Good marketing tricked me into renting this garbage

I saw the box cover and briefly read the description.
I saw it was a documentary about one of the Amityville kids all grown up, and I thought "Finally! One of these scam artists is finally going to reveal how they duped the media."
I figured the kid, now adult, would chuckle along with us as he explained how step-dad George Lutz conned everyone, how they did the stunt with the flies, and how they came up with the idea of the flying piggy.
BUT NOPE!
This guy still sticks to his story, and he angrily lashes out at anyone who doesn't believe him. Very angrily. He never once says "I understand if people find this hard to believe." NOPE! He's more like "F-YOU!!!! I am telling the truth!! F-YOU, we were attacked by flying pigs."

Wouldn't you be a little pissed off constantly having to defend yourself against people who were calling you a liar for the last 40 years? His reaction to being disbelieved was reasonable. I get extremely pissed off when I'm telling the truth and no one believes me, either.

I'd love to know why you debunk the entire story (and don't say because it was a proven hoax--this has been said ad nauseum and it's false).

The story involves ghosts and fire-eyed pigs and flies that suddenly appear then disappear magically and seeing your wife turn into a 90-year-old one night...and you wonder why I don't believe?

Then it really isn't the story you have a problem with, it's all claims of the supernatural in general. Which means any similar movie or book claiming to be inspired by real events would meet the same judgment from you. I don't know what to say regarding that. I personally believe these things happen, you don't. I assume you've done research, so my attempt to convince you won't solve anything.

I understand were your coming from. The paranormal is something that's hard to believe in for a lot of people because it's so fantastical. I sympathize with Daniel. I have, in a small way, went through a little of what he has. I've had a few paranormal experiences myself. Any time you try to tell someone about it they either say bullsh!t or look at you like your crazy. It does get frustrating. I can understand why he is bitter. I liked the documentary. Daniel was believable to me. You could be right though, maybe the whole thing was a great big hoax.

I agree. I've been thru some paranormal experiences myself, not to the level of Amityville, but weird in their own ways. Not everyone believes you if you discuss them, and they definitely affect you but there is not much you can do about it.

That being said, Danny strikes me as a person who had experienced emotional trauma. I believe that he suffers from all things Amityville (the hauntings and public aftermath). Plus, I wasn't there so I have to give him the benefit of the doubt.
