Timeline mix
This film has decades mix of 80's, 90's and 2000 look to it. Perhaps a bit of late 70's also.
shareI just read that it was supposed to have taken place in the 80's, but the budget didn't allow for it so they moved it to present day. I'm guessing that's why Trent had to explain that he restored a car like his dad's, that the water park hadn't been updated, and why REO Speedwagon was put on the iPod by Duncan's mom. I guess those were some of the details already in place before they change was made, so they had to change the script. Oh yeah - and Pacman! ;)
I wasn't sure what the timeline was until I saw Susannah with a cellphone. But it makes sense now.
Plus, gas was $3.42 a gallon. Definitely not the 80s.
