Sam rockwell rocks
Nice movie
shareI watched it yesterday on HBO, really enjoyable movie with great characters. I agree, Rockwell was awesome, he makes acting look easy.
shareSam Rockwell does rock, and I don't get why more people don't know how amazing he is! Easily one of the best/top actors of the past 20 years... I wish he got more props, but it's great to see posts like yours, as long as enough know that he rocks!
Those of you unfamiliar with Rockwell or that just didn't realize he's been a great actor for a long time now should check him out in some other great films he's either starred in or co-starring....
-Confessions Of a Dangerous Mind (2002 he's friggin amazing in this)
-Moon (2009 so underrated)
-Frost/Nixon (2008 not the main attraction but key)
-Choke (2008... independent, weird and underrated)
-The Green Mile (1999 this movie is when I discovered his amazing talents, not sure I've ever cried when a mouse died before, but it was his best friend!!!)
I'd also throw in Matchstick Men (entertaining film) and The Winning Season, as well as Iron Man 2, Conviction, and Seven Psychopaths... I also really did enjoy him in that drama.... Everyone's Fine, solid! He was also great in the Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.....
He does ROCK though.... he can do anything (ACTING WISE). His range is amazing and I'm not sure why he just doesn't capture audiences when he's the lead role (like "Moon" which was so great"), but I guess he is best suited as a secondary or complementary actor to enhance most films.
I just hate it because if you watch Moon or an independent like Choke he is amazing as the lead. Of course he STOLE THE SHOW in 1999 with COnfessions of a Dangerous Mind, directed by solid George Clooney and written by the amazing elite Charlie Kaufman... While the film is amazing to me, I do believe it could of been better (not because of Rockwell one bit, he was amazing, but because of the direction by Clooney. A Kaufman script is always amazing, and had it been directed by someone else I feel that Rockwell would of become an instant star, not that it matters now... he's still giving us great performances every year!
Also check out a couple of older Sam Rockwell movies, namely:
Box Of Moonlight where he plays the boy/man "the Kid" opposite the very rigid/straight arrow John Turturro with hilarious results.
Lawn Dogs in which he plays a young guy who mows lawns in a gated community in which he isn't socially accepted, but is befriended by a young girl who sees through all of the hypocrisy.
snakes! (why does it have to be snakes?)
How did no one mention his best performance ever, Snow Angels. He was brilliant in that.
shareYes! I don't think it was his best performance this, The Green Mile and MOON are my picks, but I remember watching him in Snow Angels and just thinking this guy is a whole new level of great! IMO he's the best working actor in Hollywood at the moment

Sam Rockwell rocks...well.
shareCouldn't agree more one of my favourite actors who doesn't get the recognition he deserves. I have to add that he is a brilliant guy off screen as well. I had the pleasure of meeting him at an awards ceremony and he took the time to talk to me about movies and his favourite actors. If you want to see an absolute gem of film he is amazing in. Watch "A box of moonlight" that stars him and John Turturro (another legend)! Class act!!!!
shareWho were his favorite actors?!?! How interesting, that's awesome you got to meet him/chat with him :)
shareHe stole this movie! All the best scenes had him in them.
