We clearly see in the movie that Duncan tries to kiss her 2 times, I mean he makes his move 2 times, and we know by the look on Susanna's face that she is not interested and sees Duncan as a friend But when Duncan was leaving she says "I was surprised" and kisses him NO she wasn't surprised. the look on her face wasn't a surprised look..
The writer must have got confused. Or this is not real life. We know how the scene was intended by the surrounding context. I.e. if she kisses him and says she was just surprised, that is indeed the case.
I took her "surprise" as being surprised by him, by him turning out to be more than just a shy awkward boy. I didn't think she was referring to the kiss because it's so obvious she made the move.
Yeah, I completely agree. I mean, she made the first move, the second move, the 53rd move. She stalked him. She took moonlit walks on the beach with him and watched fireworks with him. She spent the entire day hanging out with him - at his job! She listened to Owen's PA announcement where they are basically announcing to the entire park that they've got the hots for each other, AND DOES NOTHING TO CORRECT THIS IN DUNCAN'S MIND.
And at the end, in this scene, she literally comes right after him and sits down next to him, alone, on the beach.
And yet, she's still surprised by his move to kiss her? Bullsh!t. She has to be the world's biggest tease.
Plus, on top of everything, she's hot as hell. I mean, come on, a 14-year-old boy can only take so much!!!
I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.
I think she says, "You just surprised me, that's all". It was referring to Duncan trying to kiss her earlier, she was surprised he even had the courage to do it, and also that he opened up to her throughout the movie when originally she probably thought there wasn't more to him than being shy and awkward. Her whole perception of him changed, a change she didn't see coming.
