LOVED IT

I admit, I had high expectations going into it but I loved it so much more than I thought I would. I love how real and natural it felt and especially the ending was beautiful. The entire film was incredible and I will definitely be adding it to my collection.

I totally agree with you. It is real and I like that the ending was great, but he didn't get to stay at the water park for the summer or get the girl in the end. It was a feel-good ending sans the typical Hollywood ending of the protagonist getting everything he seeks signed, sealed and delivered.

That's what made it more like real life. There are fleeting moments you remember as a kid but you are at your parents' mercy and sometimes things end before you're ready.

I agree. This is a film without special effects, or without really showing modern technology. But, I like this film as I think it's very funny and the characters in the film are relatable.

Great film, and very relatable characters... It couldve went for longer and explored Duncans relationship with Susannah a bit more... But as it is I loved this movie.

Yeah it could've been a bit longer. I enjoyed Duncan and Susanna.

I've been watching Sam Rockwell's movies lately n the trailer looked decent enough. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this movie. Rockwell was hilarious as always, Steve Carrell played a good d*ck haha, and the lil blondie was hot.

He was only 14. She was a year or 2 older. They might be buddies, at best. But that could be a good story, too.
I'll bet the studio loved that this $4.6M movie has made 23M so far! (I generally like small movies better)

I also loved it..
Rockwell was great..
and the kid that played Duncan was really good...
You really wanted something to change for his sake.

Great movie with so many scenes that took me back to being that age. So many awkward moments, so many great moments.

reply

It was better than my expectations, and it had high expectations. I love when that happens.

It was a nice little film, but I found the standouts were Allison Janney, Liam James and Sam Rockwell. Janney was just hilarious. My fave part was when Owen blocked Trent from taking Duncan at the end...very touching and powerful.

"This is a faithful saying...Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief."
