It was one of my favorites as a teen and I always wanted to see it turned into a movie, but this seems like a really loose, mediocre adaptation. I'll still give it a chance - hope I'm wrong.

Nahhhh... The studios took a different track for once and just tossed it a paltry release instead.
This is what I came here to find out... I've always thought the book would make an interesting movie, but when I just saw the summary on Starz I had to double check that it's based on the book.
Seems very loosely adapted.. I'm going to record it and check it out, but I was curious what other lovers-of-the-book thought.
I have to say.. I got this book from the dollar store AT LEAST 13 years ago, I never thought it would be made into a movie.
