What did she see in Adam?

I don't get it at all. What on earth could have attracted Hannah to him? He had no looks or charm to speak of and was selfish, disrespectful, aloof and terrible in bed. How did she feel that he was contributing to her life at all?

I think it was his playfulness, his looks (yes, he does have them), his charm (has that too) and his protectiveness (he took care of her during her OCD crisis). Plus he was just unpredictable and exciting which is very attractive to girls at that age. But I agree that there were times when he was so ridiculously disrespectful to her. It made Hannah come across extremely insecure that she would put up with that. But they did have an interesting dynamic together, more interesting than Adam and Jessa. I remember Hannah once referring to them as "a crazy artist couple" or something like that. And later when talking about breaking up with Fran she said Fran was a square and she could never be with a square. I think Hannah definitely likes unique freespirited guys and Adam is definitely that.

He ignored her at first which which got her hooked and then he took care of her which made her love him.

Who knows why any of us fall for the men that we do?!! There's no rhyme or reason to it. Adam is the best thing about Girls!! He out acts them all and Lena has written him to make us all care about his fate. When he took off his face mask in Star Wars, I was like, OMG! That's Adam from Girls!! How did he go from an HBO series to STAR WARS??!!! WOW!! Not only is he an amazing actor, he enlisted in the Marines after 9/11!

He's exactly that guy we all date in our 20's once before we learn out lesson. I disagree with you about his looks and charm. I think he's got sex appeal and is extremely charming in a playful, boyish way that made Hannah feel carefree and 'cool' for being with him. He's also extremely kind in spirit. And he's serious, crazy, artsy and talented and he ignored her...but gave her just enough attention that she was hooked.

The issue is that they're just not compatible. He's intense and kinky and can be emotionally withholding when he gets mad. She's kind of vanilla where sex is concerned (which is fine - most people would not be down with the stuff Adam is into), extremely needy and needs constant validation. He expects her to care about things like he does, but she's not capable, because she's a narcissist. And Adam is emotionally manipulative, because he knows where her weak spots are and exploits them, making her feel insecure when he wants to put her off-kilter. And he's equally as selfish as she is, just not as self-centered (he's capable of having a discussion that isn't about him).

I totally get why she dated him, but those are not the guys you marry...not until they grow up and get over their delusions. But those men are the best in bed, honestly.
