While I do like the show, they're all unlikable.
I do not care about what happens to any of them.
I do not root for any of them.
It's possible that I hate all the female characters.
And if I do, I don't know who I hate more.
Probably Hanna, then Marnie, Jessa & Shosh.
The male characters are far more likable.
Adam, Ray, heck, even Laird. (Not Desi though)

I like Shosh but she can get on my nerves from time to time. I really can't stand Jessa at all and wish she'd bugger off. Marnie irritates me and I just view Hannah as somebody who hasn't grown up yet and I want to slap some sense into her. I can't stand Desi or Fran but like Ray, Adam (when he's not being a dick) and Laird.
shareI agree with you. I like Shosh for the simple reason that she really wants to work and be helpful. I think her aggressive search for a job was admirable. (Hannah is very good at quitting jobs, but not good at biting the bullet and keeping one.)
Also, the way Shosh dove right into the problem at Rays coffee bar and made a very wise decision in branding was very impressive.
Sure she is a little annoying. But I attribute that to her youth. She is a few years younger than the other characters.

It might just be me, but frequently Shosh talks so fast that I can't understand her. That makes me not like her character, though I don't hate her. I guess she is the only one of the four girls that doesn't screw almost every man they meet. Hannah and Marnie are almost serial sexual addicts. Speaking of that, I'd hate to have to talk to Hannah after sex.

Yes yes yes! Hate them all! Even though I sometime kinda relate to Shosh. Desi sucks and I don't really like Elijah.

I really love Shosh; she's terribly underrated. She's got this crazy energy, but she's funny and the most insightful of any of the girls. Go back & watch Beach House. She's a mean drunk, but she reveals how smart she is. She definitely knows who the girls truly are. I forget what episode, but she was able to (in an impressively brilliant way) part Jessa & Jasper so they could both get back on the wagon.

shareI hated Ray at the beginning because he was condescending to the other characters about not having their lives together when he is 10 years older than them and still didn't have his own life together. (Moving in with your gf and not telling her? Really?) But he has grown on me a bit.
Elijah is fun. Charlie was completely bland to me until he became a heroin addict.
Shosh is the only 'likeable' Girl but the others can be compelling for other reasons. I admired Hannah's determination to be a published writer for a while (I have that goal also) but the way she goes about it is sometimes questionable. Marnie was interesting to me because I feel she is a realistic portrayal of what a lot of women in their 20s are like, even if it is not a pretty truth. Jessa was just fun because she was so ridiculous. She's like the friend you have who only shows up in town occasionally before going off on her next random adventure, but every time she appears it's fun--just don't try to have a meaningful and stable friendship with her because it'll never work.
Hannah, Jessa, Hannahs mother and Adam are hateable. Elijah, Hannahs father and Desi are annoying. Marnie is shallow but normal. Ray is ok, Shosanna is kind of sweet.

They all also swear way too much. Unfortunately there is nothing to like in all these annoying characters and that's the show biggest flaw.
Shoshanna is very likeable if you can look past her quirks. She's very sweet and I think the most genuinely good out of the 4. She was very shallow early on in the show though and I think that image has stuck around with some.
The other 3 definitely are not likable. Marnie's narcissism is fascinating to me though. She so unlikable that it makes her interesting and somewhat likable, lol, at least if you can appreciate well drawn out characters even if they are complete a-holes.
I like Jessa and she's made so so many mistakes and has not been a good person but I do think that there is a good part inside of her.
Hannah is just annoying but it is still interesting to see her work through her issues.
I totally agree with you about Shoshana. She is the only one who seems to be sincerely motivated to do nice things. Witness what she did for Ray's coffee shop. And she has no remaining bad feelings towards Ray even after their relationship fell apart and he took up with Marnie.

Yes to all of this. Shoshana is the most genuine and caring of all of the women. I've really grown to love her and care about what happens to her. I can't really say that about the others, although they're interesting to watch.
Isn't it funny how everyone hates Jessa for hooking up with Adam but no one hates Marnie for ending up with Ray? Isn't it the same thing? I had no issue with Adam and Jessa, until the whole crazy fight/sex thing in the last episode of this season. That was too violent and disturbing to me.
There is no way I would end up with a guy like Adam. He and Jessa are welcome to each other. They can destroy eachother.
Yes, I remember that Shosh was upset with Marnie for her fling with Ray. Franky, Marnie is the most manipulative person in the entire show and she is the least deserving of our sympathy.

Yes. I like Marnie the least. Hannah is self-absorbed but basically wants to do what's right. Shosh is a good person. Period. Jessa is messed up but wants to do the right thing and is the most fragile of all of the girls. Marnie is entitled and mean. There are very few episodes where I can muster any kind of sympathy for her. I'm not sure why any of them would stay friends with her.
shareThey're interesting characters to me so I like them, with the exception of Hannah last season. When she found out about what was going on behind her back, that was interesting, but otherwise she bored me for most of the season. The other female characters did not.
