Disgusting man

Loathsome human being. What a pig. But not a stupid pig. The stupid pigs are his "wives".

Totally agree. Watched it once, not all the way through. He is a douchebag's douchebag, and his "wives" are dumb as rocks.

Then change the channel!

reply

Ya but sometimes it's hard to turn away from a TV show full of douch bag pigs in the same way traffic always slows down in front of a gruesome car accident and rubberneck. Or the same reason pimple popping videos on YouTube are super popular.

I disagree. I know it is popular to dump on Cody, and he has had his fair share of foot-in-mouth moments, but who hasn't? I am impressed with his ability to communicate, both to the camera and his wives. He speaks forthrightly, and expresses his feelings openly. I guess you would have to develop good communication skills in plural marriage. I imagine lots of counseling has helped with this. In fact, most of the adults express their feelings and thoughts very considerately of each other, with the exception of Meri, who just blurts out that she's tired of this already and wants to move on. Cody shows just how difficult plural marriage is, and I respect, to a point, that he has to work hard (physically, mentally, emotionally, heck even spiritually) to keep his family together. I don't share his religion, lifestyle or values, but I respect that he is trying to uphold his.

I think Kody was in sales for a long time before the show. After all, he sold the show to a production company and then TLC. 

reply

And he sold 4 women on the idea of polygamy haha

reply

Actually I think it was Meri's idea.

You could definitely look at it that way, and we don't know what is said when the cameras aren't rolling, but I think we've seen them in enough tense situations to see how they handle conflict. Ultimately I think they have to believe this lifestyle is commanded by god to go for it. This situation seems unsustainable otherwise. I don't think Kody is getting as much out of it as he puts in. He has 4 wives, 4 people to try and have a relationship with and keep happy, 4 mortgages, 18 kids?, and all the pressure to keep it together financially and emotionally. Of course it is all his own doing, and you may question his motives, but he seems to be keeping his head above water, for a while longer.
