Christine's daughter (I refuse to write or say her ridiculous name) thought she was going to have this incredible, tender mother-daughter moment upon announcing Tony's intentions -- even throwing out the sappy line "your little girl is growing up" and it fell as flat as a wet turd from a dog's ass on hard ground. Beyond cringe-inducing.
Hah, you are right. I think she was hoping for a reaction like the one Madison got, but she didn't go about it the right way. This reminded me of an episode from The Cosby Show. Vanessa brought home her boyfriend, Dabness, only to tell her parents that he was really her fiancée, and then got upset that they didn't fawn over him as they had their other sons-in-law. She then tried to say her parents were biased because Dabness wasnt a doctor or military man, but was just a maintenance worker at her college. The parents pushed back on her saying it wasn't his job in life that bothered them, but the way Vanessa handled the news. They asked Dabness, "do you like steak, with some potatoes, with lots of butter. Well imagine, instead of cooking you a great meal and serving it to you on a plate, that I went out back, grabbed a lid off the garbage can, put the steak and potatoes on the lid and served it to here on the table. Do you like it now? Because that is how she introduced you to us, on a garbage can lid." And that is how MyKelti introduced Tony to her family. The family may warm up to him eventually, but their relationship started off on the wrong foot, and that is purely MyKelti's fault.
And yes, Christine gave some seriously stupid names, spelled stupidly, to her kids.
Totally agree..she knows the way her dad is. why not bring him for dinner so he could get to know Tony? they barley know that are dating and now they want to get married...
Tony has been over to Christine's and had dinner with them a few times before Mykelti even asked if Tony could talk to her dad. Christine either really doesn't speak with her daughter much/isn't involved in her life or just is oblivious to things right in front of her.
Christine new they had been dating but I guess she didn't really know how serious it was.

Thank you for the link! I always loved this speech. He explains the problem very well, with a good visual metaphors. And it came to the front of my mind when I saw this episode. "It's all in the presentation".
Once she started bringing him around for family dinners, you'd think that Cody and Christine would have gotten in touch with the other ppl to see what was going on in their daughters life. I was astounded that they had that pow wow last night. I would have checked on my child after the first week, the first month, the first time Tony showed up to see what the deal was. Yes there are a lot of children to parent but to parent you have to be involved in their lives. Not leave it to the kindness of strangers and assume.
Oh gosh. Don't tell me this show is going to follow the Duggar route and become and endless stream of weddings.

It probably will, since most of the kids think marriage is the only route out of the huge families & lifestyles they were born into. (At leastwise for the girls.) At least some of Kody's kids have tried college, which is good, although IDK if college is the route for all of them either? As far as relationships go, no doubt the kids are all too religious to consider co-habitation...although the moral & ethics of Kody having 4 wives is rather tenuous at best anyway.
Yeah Kody tried to preach to Tony about 'staying pure' until marriage, or mainly trying to dissuade premarital sex with his daughter (so she doesn't end up pregnant from some a**h**le's b**t**d), although both Tony & Mykelti could've retorted to Kody "...Yeah right, and YOU'RE married to FOUR wives?!" reply share

You don't really watch this show at all, do you? All the kids of college age have gone to college and Mykelti is the only one who has dropped out. I may be one who wonders about Maddie's scholastic future, but she's currently attending college. They have all been raised to attend college and/or find their passion in life. Why do you think they've been so hard on Mykelti? So where do you get that college isn't the route for all of them?? You've said that in other posts and I don't know where that comes from, except ignorance of the family. I do think some of the girls in this oldest age group may have an issue with premarital sex, but as the other age groups move into their teens and go to college, I doubt that will be an issue. Another thing you don't understand is that polygamy is part of their religion. It has nothing to do with morals and ethics. So far none of the kids even practice their religion and I don't know if the family goes to or has church in their home anymore. Lastly, since you know nothing about this family, I will let you know that Logan and his girlfriend Michelle have been living together for awhile.

Yeah I've only watched the show a little bit, and what I saw of Maddie and Mykelti, they reminded me of other girls in my area who in the past have tried college...but then dropped out because of marriage, kids, college being more difficult than high school, lack of support, etc. Plus I wasn't sure how many of Kody's kids had successfully completed college & gotten a degree already, and/or if Kody or any of his wives (the kids mothers) held degrees themselves. If so, then the likelihood that the children will be successful in college or at a university does increase.
(Still though, realistically with that many children, statistically, a full 4 yr + college education may not be the route for ALL them, and maybe a vocational school or tech school might be of better service for their strengths, and that's fine too. That's all I'd meant in regard to questioning college as the future route for all.)
As far as anyone questioning the family's ethics in regard to polygamy, I could more see an outsider like Tony (or anyone else any of the kids are dating) being more sarcastic about taking the 'no premarital sex' advice/demand from a guy who's married to several different women, than any of the Brown children themselves questioning it.
So far, all of the Brown children have excelled in academics and most of the boys in athletics. Maddie was the Valedictorian and/or president of her class. That and the reason she had a scholarship to the college she originally went to is one of the reasons I will be disappointed if she does not continue, but as far as I know she is in college now.
I believe Logan and Mariah graduate from college this year and they both have plans to attend graduate school. They're both going to be Physician Assistants with Logan's expertise in some kind of sports medicine. Aspyn should be graduating the next year. Hunter is in his first year at the Air Force Academy after one year at the Air Force prep school.
All of them received some type of scholarship or assistance in the cost of their education plus they work. In addition, they have been paid by TLC all these years and the Browns are now wealthy. They earn money from different sources other than the TV show. If any of the Brown children want to go to college or desire any kind of secondary education, money will not be a problem.
