New respect for Kody

Wow--tonight's episode with him trying to get Mariah to empathize and forgive Meri and him owning responsibility for his part in their Marriage deteriorating---good stuff. Go Kody!

That was probably one of the best scenes they've ever had because it was so real. Yikes!

I really liked that conversation. They both spoke from the heart. Kody tried to lessen Mariah's anger by admitting that he made mistakes that led to the cat fishing ordeal. But Mariah, so intuitive, pushed back and said that she can't be pressured to forgive. Mariah, many episodes back, worried what her mom would do once Mariah left for college. Mariah sensed that she was her mom's world and focus, and tonight she almost, almost said to Kody how unhealthy that is. It is unfair for Kody and Meri to pressure their child into forgiveness. Kody kept trying to downplay the cat fishing episode, but then Mariah got the last word (on the show, at least). If it hadn't been a scam, Mariah was sure Meri would have left.

It's interesting because Mariah experienced that whole thing from a different perspective. She was in the home with Mary and really saw more of what was going on. Kody only has the info Mary gave him and she of course downplayed what really happened and he accepted that version.

Yes -- this is true. Mariah experienced this from a whole different perspective than Kody---and she knows a lot more dirt than him too. As another poster said, if Sam had been real, Meri would have left Kody choking on her dust. I do understand Mariah's reluctance to forgive Meri, but I applaud Kody's attempt at peacemaking -- it seemed sincere to me. The best way to wrap all this up would be for Kody to divorce Robyn and re-marry Meri. Give her legal first wife status and put sobbin' Robyn in her place. This would be a great storyline for the show too! They could spend 2 or 3 seasons on it!

They have all repeated ad nauseum that legal paperwork for a marriage means nothing to them. If it did, then what does that say about the non legal wives. To divorce Robyn and remarry Meri would make them all look like liars and hypocrites.

Meri used Mariah as a confidant and it backfired. Mariah is not mature enough to separate herself from her mother as her own person and takes offense to what Meri did, as if she cheated (emotionally) on Mariah instead of Kody. I don't deny how awful it must have been to have it all played out in public, but Mariah seems to want Meri on her knees begging forgiveness and declaring Mariah the all wise one- and that seems way harsh.

What really pisses me off is that Kody has this heart to heart talk with Mariah, yet instead of doing that with Mykelti he goes through her bafoon boyfriend.

When Meri has Mariah to lean on it takes away Kody's guilt for not being there for Meri. Of cours he wants his daughter to make up with his "wife", but it definitely makes things easier for Kody.

I have a feeling any heart to heart talk with Mykelti would have gone right over her head. At least with Mariah she seems to be able to have conversations like that, while some might not agree with how Mariah is handling the situation with Meri, at least she seems to grasp and understand things like this better.

There is something rather obtuse about Mykelti. She kind of lives in her own world.

I agree, maturity wise either though Maddy and her are the same age, Maddy seems older then her, Mykelti seems like she should still be in HD.
