I guess Tony got bashed a little on twitter last night for saying that. I hope that he really was just saying random things and wasn't serious about that.
Right?! Based off their reactions to their engagement I would say they don't like him for Mykelti at all and are very unhappy. However, they're very clearly going to get married no matter what they say so unless they want to be cut out they have to act like they like him. Mykelti appears to like him quite a bit though and that's what counts.
I do wonder if him being active in the LDS church is a big strike against him for them?
I guess so since Kody wanted him to promise they would raise their kids to be open to polygamy. WTH was that about? Are Mormons the only religion against polygamy? I don't think Kody has to worry about any of his grandchildren being polygamists.
I said it very poorly, but I don't think he said to accept it, just be open to it. They never told their kids they had to accept polygamy so why should their kids do that?
Maybe Kody sees some of himself and Tony and thinks he can plant a seed in his mind to maybe go the polygamist route later on? I honestly have no idea why he would ask Tony that on camera and not Caleb. Kody seems genuinely shaken by this situation.

Tony is LDS, right? And the LDS church refused to allow two of the girls to join because their parents were polygamists. Uh.... not sure why the "sins of the father" matter here.... but regardless of my bewilderment, the church would not allow the girls into their midst.
So I wonder if Kody is worried about what happens a year or two down the road.. Tony is LDS and Mykelti won't be accepted?
Open to it as in not being taught the it is a sin and needs to be shunned. He finest want his grandchildren taught that he and the. Moms are sinners and going against God, he doesn't care if hid kids are polygamist. But he does care that kid kids and grandkids do t turn their back on the family and keel their kids away. Madison was told she had to turn her back on her family to join the church. He is worried mykelti will face the same pressure from tony. This isn't about wZnting polygamist grandkids, simply about getting to see them.
The fact that Madison wanted to join the Mormon church on her own with no reason like her husband being a Mormon tells us that in their heads (Madison & Mykelti) they don't think it would affect their relationship with their parents. They wouldn't let Madison join the church because the Browns are public polygamists. None of the Brown kids would turn against their parents. On a side note, the Mormons have said and I read it that it's false about not having anything to do with polygamists. I'm pretty sure this is one of Christine's conspiracies and/or used for drama on the show.
The reason Kody asked Tony to keep his children open to polygamy was clearly stated by Kody on the show. He said "Because I don't want my grandchildren to be raised to hate me because I am a polygamist."
He merely and naturally didn't want his grandchildren to be kept from him or taught to revile him because of the differences in his beliefs and LDS.

I have a feeling Tony only felt stupid for saying that after the media backlash. If no one had blinked over his statement, he wouldn't have thought a thing about it.
I appreciate you posting that link - it was interesting to read.

You have a feeling, and I have no doubt he felt stupid for saying that -- after the media backlash.

It was even worse, because he was saying her parents can take out a loan against their houses and even said it's called a home equity loan. It sounds like he expects them to flip the bill for whatever wedding they have and doesn't even care about the timing issues of it. The Browns are already planning what seems like a big wedding and to shell out for another one just two months later after them only dating a short time is very selfish, I think.
