I read this on another board, but found it so true: for Mariah to forgive Meri would require her to be empathetic about Meri being lonely, and admitting Kody was a neglectful husband. Mariah can't emotionally afford to look at both her parents in this stark light, and it would also reflect very poorly on the lifestyle they were brought up in. It seems like Mariah's anger and disappointment in her mother may go much deeper than just the catfish incident.
shareI think her anger is a little more on the surface. Mariah is just like her mother in that she wants to be heard and will do what it takes - I think she's mad because she figured out what was going on with Meri and "Sam" and warned her mother and she didn't listen. Then she hears her mother downplaying it and she got madder. I think that's why she said such hurtful things to Kody, like Meri would have left him if Sam was real. Polygamists aren't the only ones who cheat and yes, kids often times blame themselves when it happens, but I don't think Mariah blames herself or Polygamy for what her mom did.
shareI got the feeling that Mariah was the angriest that she'd told her mom that she was being set up and Meri didn't believe her and then the Browns ended up being publicly embarrassed over a situation she saw through the entire time. Mariah could definitely have more empathy, but she's right when she says Meri would have left if Sam had been real and that Meri fell for a con artist.
Mariah's about 21 now right? She needs to get her own boyfriend/life and not be so involved in her parent's marriage. It looks like the apron strings have been cut.
I think Mariah might be graduating this year. It will be interesting to see where she plans to go to graduate school. Will she stay in the area or move away? She and Logan are basically majoring in the same thing and from social media and what Janelle said, Logan will be relocating. I wonder if Mariah might be trying to get into the same school. Won't that be interesting - for Mariah to be even farther away from Meri? Regarding another issue, wonder who's paying for grad school?
shareThose are all interesting questions, I'm curious too see how it all plays out. I always thought that Meri was going to eventually move back to Utah to be closer to Mariah, but now I don't see that happening. I do hope that Meri and Mariah mend fences.
Don't know if this has ever been answered, but the kids get paid for being on the show, or is it just the 5 parents?
I don't think anyone really knows how they get paid, but I assumed there was some money paid specifically to the kids. I thought the only reason the older kids were on screen is to make money because some of the reasons for them to on the show have been pretty lame. It appears Logan and Aspyn don't need any money - at least not enough to be on the show. But it must really help the 2 girls getting married.
