Janelle and Meri

Janelle and Meri share a man's penis, yet they become emotionally distraught when they have to share a couch...

Janelle seems to have been sampling too much wedding cake because she has blown up again !

Even though the catfish incident has wreaked havoc on their family, something tells me Meri and Janelle's peace treaty is faring better because of it in an "us against the world" kind of way. It surprises me the wives have been as non judgmental about it as they have.

Until last night I thought they were purposely treading lightly about the catfish situation. Maybe that's why they haven't had the other wives weigh in that much. I think you are right, that they view the catfish situation as something that was against the whole family and it was - as we know 'Sam' contacted all of them. Kody was right about that. I think Kody knows and understand more than we're seeing.

From watching Kody and Mariah's discussion I think Kody is being willfully ignorant. He is choosing to believe the narrative that is the most comfortable for him. For a quick second I thought Mariah was going to knock Kody off his stance of blissful ignorance. I think if Kody had a full understanding of Meri and the catfish situation, he would find it incredibly difficult to move past it.

reply

Considering how they are all struggling, none of them seemed to have moved past it.

Why does Kody still keep saying "Meri got involved with some bad people" like it was some group of people out to fool her, like a malicious group targeted her lol. It seems cut and dry to me, Meri met someone online that she thought was a man and pursued it. The whole thing is still humiliating, but I think they would feel less humiliated if they stop talking about it. This is 2-3 seasons of this same catfish story. We get it. We got it the first time.

"Meri got involved with some bad people"
Sounds like the mob. The catfish mob. 

reply

Lol right. They make it sound like Meri fell into some umderworld of low lifes that lured her in.

reply

Sounds about right. I don't think Kody wants to see the truth that Meri fell in love with another "man". She's not an innocent victim. Yes, she was catfished but she still all but had her bags packed to leave him for another "man".

reply

You're right. There were no PEOPLE, it was one person, a fictitious person but one none the less, not some underworld group targeting her.

reply

Cody's ego can't handle admitting that Meri fell in love with another man and that if Sam had really been a man, Meri would be gone! He tells himself it was a group of bad people to lessen the blow to his ego. For him to admit that a lowly woman single-handedly pulled this scam off is more than his macho Mormon self can handle! Mormon men are expected to know how to "handle" their wives and this was an epic fail on Cody's part in the eyes of the church!

reply

The ironic thing is that if one of the other wives had been the one "catfished" I doubt Meri would have been as understanding about it. They could just be playing nice for the cameras to keep the show running. Also it sounds like Kody hasn't been visiting Meri's house for a while so the family dynamic must be totally different now.

When he said that "you asked me not to stay here for a while", and she responded, you know why I did that, or something to that effect, I thought that was a reference to keeping the family out of the catfish situation. That person was threatening her and the family.

reply

That's what I thought too.
