Erica's reaction vs Janelle's

Janelle picks up all things emotional based and examines them like a foreign artifact. Erica was so happy and choked up when she saw Maddie in her " weddink" dress, much like one would expect the actual mother of the bride to react.

Janelle's insistence that there was nothing wrong with her going fishing on the morning of the wedding, instead of spending time with Maddie, or at least just being near her is so telling of her character. I have never been a huge Janelle fan, but now I find her incredibly unlikeable.

I agree, I have never liked her that much but now she just seems as awful as some of the other wives. She is so unemotional and I should have known she was not the brightest bulb after she defended Kody so much and called him such a good father 2 seasons ago even after Madison had just said she felt she didn't get enough attention or as much as her brothers did.

It is like she can't seem to understand basic human needs and emotions. Also her whining about having to do arts and crafts..? so what if you don't like it your daughter needs your help so you do it and try your best at it instead of whining and doing it incredibly slowly.

Her wanting to go fishing on her daughters wedding day is just plain selfish and stupid. Maddie said Bridesmaids would be arriving at 5AM so what if she needed her mom's help with something related to that but she chooses to go fishing instead?

reply

If Janelle was being much help to Mykelti it'd be different but she's not! This nurturing stuff isn't her thing and she clearly hates doing it so why not let her go fishing as long as she's only gone until 8 - 8:30ish? It's not like she's a cyclone of efficiency and her presence would be greatly missed. The other 3 moms will be available for Mykelti so Janelle could come back from fishing totally relaxed and she'd probably be able to pitch in doing things to help that are more in her comfort zone.

reply

Because Janelle is her mom and Maddie clearly wants her involved more than the other moms and Janelle also says she wants to be as involved as possible. The point it she should be there for her daughter on her wedding day, not out fishing because she wants to be selfish.

I don't care if the nurturing thing isn't her thing, this is her child getting married and she needs to act like she cares. Maddie should not just have to rely on her other mothers to do this and be there for her, she clearly wants her mom to be that person and be there for her.

There is no good excuse for Janelle's lazy and selfish behavior.

ITA but Janelle isn't a girlie girl or the nurturing type. A couple hours of fishing before Mykeltie even gets up (her words) might be exactly what Janelle needs to "get her mind right" for a stressful day. I really do understand what you're saying and I know this day should be all about Mykeltie but I get the feeling that things like this are REALLY hard for Janelle! I'm not trying to argue but I get where Janelle is coming from. 1 friend comes to mind. She loves their kids more than anything but she was the bread winner and dad raised the kids. Her daughter's wedding day was a really tough day for her because she felt guilty about the mother/daughter girly thing seeming foreign to her. Her aunt filled her shoes and the bride and her mom had a perfect day! I think Janelle is doing the best she can do and while a lot of moms
don't understand, I'm thinking this is really tough and way out of her comfort zone. Mykelti might be expecting something from Janelle that she's just not able to give! She's lucky she has 3 other moms who will be there for her! Some girls go through their wedding day without 1 mom!

reply

Maddie, not Mykelti lol.

I don't think you can compare them, first Erica had never seen the dress and she hadn't really been involved in the planning of the wedding (I assume). I thought the fishing thing was pretty weird too, except now that I hear about it being the best place to fish in the US and we're starting to see how ultra-produced this show is, I don't hold anything against Janelle.

reply

Janelle does not seem like the fishing type.

There is one thing wrong and I wouldn't even call it wrong, it just is. She is OBESE! When you are obese you block and guard just about everything that comes your way physically, emotionally, whatever! It's true and I'm not trying to slam her, quite the opposite actually. She would do well for herself to go back to fighting whatever emotional eating disorder she has or the other option is she could lose the 250 pounds with the receding hairline.

I think that's why she started this company. I don't understand how she could have lost all that weight, then put it right back on again. I guess Christine and Robyn are the only happy wives.

I'll never forget the scene with Janelle attacking the peanut butter Fritos, it was the happiest I've ever seen her on the show. It made me feel very sad for her since she obviously such an emotional eater. I don't understand why she hasn't gotten a gastric bypass yet, she's certainly a candidate.

reply

I've brought that up before - with the way they think I don't think bypass surgery would cross her mind. Starting this lame company and tweeting inspirational messages is her way to go. She has to realize she has an above average problem that needs more intensive help. I'm sure they have insurance now and many insurance companies cover it.

reply

Bypass won't help if she continues to overeat.

reply

I was thinking that too. Carnie Wilson has had 2 procedures and she is still big.

reply

Janelle's weight and her emotional eating insulates her from people and from having to feel things. She would likely not even want a surgical or medical weight loss.

reply

Right - that's what I said. But none of the Browns would do anything like that - do we know if they've even moved to get proper regular medical care?
