Stupid Kody comments:

Explaining his connection to his best friend / brother in law Nathan and his conversion to polygamy:
" Hey, this Polyg thing might really work"!

"Write down all the love cliche's, all the things that are meaningless to people "
"Dearly beloved we are gathered here today to receive a flood of wonderful"
"I'm handing the baton of my love for my daughter from me to another man". Eeuuuw.

"To Madison- " You are stunning, don't be embarrassed if I stare- Holy cow"
From one or two episodes ago "The stinky finger of blame"... haha classic Kody.

" in a poop storm of negativity always be each other's safe harbor" -seriously?! POOP storm ?!

Anyone else have any fave's ?

reply

Almost forgot-
Kody to Caleb at the altar-"Do you feel lucky? Well, do ya, Unc " ?!

( technically Caleb IS Maddie's Uncle - or is it cousin)?

reply

Neither. His sister married her uncle, but that doesn't make them related.

I once tried a dessert called "Death By Chocolate", but it only made me stronger.

reply

It kinda does. Not blood. But related.

reply

Not really, I have a SIL and her mom isn't my mom. I have another SIL that has a brother, that doesn't make him my brother.

reply

It feels related to me even though it's only by marriage but relation no less. Caleb's neices and nephews (Erica and Curtis' kids) are most definitely Maddie's cousins. Too close for comfort for my taste.

reply

But she is also their aunt now, by marriage. Reminds me of the song "I am my own grandpa."

reply

But that's super weird having a relative with two different relations to you. Nothing about that is normal lol.

reply

There is no blood connection between Maddie and Caleb. How on earth is that too close for comfort for you?

reply

Kody to Caleb at the altar-"Do you feel lucky? Well, do ya, Unc " ?!

That was the CREEPIEST thing Kody said. Yuck!

reply

The comment about staring at Maddie gave me second hand embarrassment for her. My dad says Im pretty but Kody was borderline ogling. Off topic, I love how he just picks and choses portions of other religions to incorporate into his family lol. Wtf would you be giving your son a bar mitzvah.

reply

That is disrespectful to say the least (the bar mitzvah.) If I were Jewish, I'd be even more offended, but that is just wrong.

reply

What I said or the fact he isn't Jewish but gave his son a bar mitzvah?

reply

Kody's cultural and religious insensitivity never ceases to amaze me.

Even in Maddie's wedding he included certain phrases that are part of the LDS Sealing Ceremony (which fundamentalists also use), which is strictly forbidden in a civil ceremony. I have always said he doesn't even understand his own religion, and has just created his own brand of Mormonism.

reply

I agree 100%. He picks and chooses from other religions to melt into his cult stew. I hope none of the children follow this life. I have a 98% feeling Sobbin's kids are going to be polygamists.

reply

Maybe the Church of Kody could start having nuns and monks so that he could have the younger ones sworn to a lifetime a celibacy a servitude to their father.

He is going to need someone to take care of him and all the wives as they get older.

reply

I think you're right about Sobbin's kids, except maybe for Dayton.

reply

I think Dayton will. He is heavily influenced by his wacky parents. I don't see any of the other kids doing it though. I remember the show My Five Wives and NONE of those kids wanted to live polygamy, not a single one. I actually liked that show, too bad it was cancelled. Those wives were nuts, except for one.

reply

I really hope none of them will. Aurora seems more likely to want to be like her mother IMO.

Which of the five wives wasn't nuts? I only remember thinking Nonie was extremely weird.

reply

Robyn's kids are the least likely to be polygamists. They were not raised as polygamists until Robyn met Kody, so it's not ingrained in them and we don't really know anything about their dad and his family and the influence they have on them. In regard to Dayton, he'll be fortunate to handle one wife. None of the Brown kids/step kids are going to practice polygamy. Polygamy has turned into a lifestyle instead of part of a religion. It has gone past its due date.

reply

Maybe NOT being raised in a polygamist family will be more of an impetus for Robyn's kids? For them, entering into a big polygamist family was the best thing that ever happened. They are in awe of Kody, and think he can do no wrong. I would lay $$ on at least 2 of them following polygamy.

reply

You're equating polygamy with a lifestyle and not a religion. The children would have to be so entrenched in the religion that they would seek out polygamy. Considering Kody just made up a religion, that in itself will be hard. None of the kids probably know any polygamists except their parents and they're all going to mainstream schools. Considering none of the kids who are old enough to ask say they are going to practice it, I doubt Robyn's kids will - haven't they been on the couch when that question has been asked?

reply

How many people actually follow all of their religious tenets to the letter? It's a free country, and if he wants to incorporate religious practices that he finds spiritually comforting and/or uplifting into his and his family's life (and they are OK with it, of course) then I don't see a problem. Many people follow and believe only what they want to with regard to their religion's doctrines.

reply

Gothish, one of the problems that I see is that he incorporated several phrases into the ceremony, especially the closing, that are considered sacred to a religion that he still claims to belong to.

If the leaders of the AUB haven't already excommunicated him because of his weird interpretation of their religion for the last several years, I am sure the letter is now in the mail.

reply

Ahh, I get what you mean now. I'm a very non-religious person, so I have a tendency to be somewhat oblivious to things that are important to people of faith. Not that I mean to denigrate those who belong to an organized religion, just that I have a more fluid, New Age-y approach to spirituality.

The fact they aren't Jewish but gave Logan a 'bar mitzvah.' Doesn't that require years of study?

reply

Doesn't that require years of study?

Not in the Church of Kody. All it takes is for him to have his son take a knee and be crowned Prince for the day.

reply

Right. Kody just plays everything by ear

reply

I thought what he said to Janelle about how she shouldn't be prettier than the bride was very sweet.

Kody is just one of those guys that doesn't always think before he speaks. Most of the time I get what he meant to say, even if it comes out dumb or kind of creepy. And he does have a lot of interesting insights and opinions.

reply

Ehh I can agree to that. He's just a goof and doesn't think first. I don't think he means any harm, but Id be embarrassed by him if he were my dad or husband lol. Caleb tries to be so nice and not show his annoyance with his father in law lol.

reply

Lol yes I agree, there are probably times when members of the family are thinking omg just shut up! I'm sure we've seen a few actually. And I would not be surprised to hear that there have been a few conversations along the lines of "now, my father is kind of out there, so don't take anything he says personally"!

Caleb really seems to be a nice guy, and you can tell he has respect for Kody's position as father-in-law.

Caleb does seem like a great guy. Maddie lucked up. I think 19 is young to marry, especially someone your family is closely related to by marriage and the age difference but I guess when it's right it's right. I think they make a nice couple and there's a real genuine factor on both parts. Tony and Mykelti? The verdict is still out on this one.

reply

Yeah-like, who includes the phrase "Poop Storm " in a sacred marriage ceremony ?? 😫💩
