I thought so, too! I think there was an episode from the earlier seasons where they talked about how they would handle having a gay child, and I swear it was Christine that said something to the effect that one of her kids talked about it, and I immediately assumed Mykelti because I could see her saying that too get a rise from her parents.

I agree. She seems to be very motivated since she entered college. Maybe some kind of big scholarship or internship opportunity.

I definitely don't think her announcement is that she is gay. Only one person thinks that, and I wonder what her motivation is for that.

Sometimes this board has strange, strange motivations. The person that has a vested interest in Mariah being gay is the strangest.

Because there is a Tumblr page that might be Mariah's that appears to have gay leaning things on it. It probably isn't hers because why would she publically post things like that after what her mother went through. Plus, her Instagram is now private. However, that is the reason the gay comments started.

I rarely watch TLC so I never see the commercials for SW, but 'Mariah's announcement is life changing'. I think all the Sister Wives are there and so is Christine's mom and she is smiling. It couldn't be she wants to change her major since she's almost finished. Since we haven't seen Mariah except to put her mother down, we don't know what she's been up to, except going to school. It would be funny if she says she's dropping out. 

Why would she announce that to the all the parents & Christine's mom? Also, she has shorts on, so whatever this life-altering announcement was, she made it last summer. She's still going to school, so she didn't quit. I think it has to do with her major, but who knows?

Could be her major, or maybe a study abroad or job opportunity. I definitely don't think its that she is gay.

Mariah, Logan, Michele, and two of their friends left for Europe this morning. Maybe they are moving her to Europe. 

We'd never know about them going to the UK for New Years if weren't for Michelle who tweets like a normal person. I bet Meri and Janelle are worried - I know I would be.

Mariah's news has to be about her education, except why is that an entire family issue + Christine's mother. 

I don't know what there is to be worried about. Right after I graduated from high school I went to Europe the first time and hitch-hiked most of my way through a summer, when I wasn't using my rail pass. But that was 1971.

We had two of our kids study at Oxford on an exchange program. The only one that was a problem was the one that fell in love with England and decided to stay for a decade. LOL

This is Mariah's second trip to Europe. She went two years ago with friends, so I could really see her doing something like deciding to move over there.

I don't know what there is to be worried about.

Do you listen to the news at all? I would be a mess if my kid was flying anywhere for the holidays, especially Europe and planning to be at some big venue or any event celebrating the New Year.

Since they've started this 'presentation to the parents' on the show, all they've talked about is marriage, so they're either jerking our chain as usual and it's something not that important or Mariah is getting married too. 

I agree, I would be worried sick if it were any of my kids. My husband and I were considering traveling to France and changed our plans partly because of all the violent incidents. Scary times.

I thought it would have to be something significant like that. A change in college major doesn't seem like a big enough deal to call a big family meeting. She is at the point in college when you do something like that, junior or senior year. If that is what she is doing, good for her. It is a great opportunity. Puts some distance between her and her mother also.

I don't believe it has a thing to do with "Mariah supposedly being gay". That tumblr page that was brought up is not Mariah at all. Mariah isn't gay. And even if she is it doesn't matter at all--although it probably would to Kody.

It's most likely something to do with a job or her moving away or something since she's about to be finished with college. As far as Christine's mom being there, that's no big deal either. She probably just happened to be home when Mariah talked to everyone.

She has probably been offered an internship or some sort of opportunity to work in a different field than she is majoring in but no one will know until the show airs. Knowing TLC, it probably is nothing as big as what most people are expecting...
