Strange irony

The thing with Meri and Mariah is so odd- right around the time that Mariah was coming to terms with her sexuality as a gay woman, Meri was being catfished by a gay woman pretending to be a man.

Can't help but wonder if this coming out publicly was perhaps at least partially intended to hurt Meri?

I think she came out because of how public she was on social media. The Browns may not have learned many things, but one thing they always had a handle on and are getting better at is marketing. I wondered WHY they didn't do something about "Sam" and now they have. They just did in their timeframe and with big ratings. Mariah is gay and wants to live her life like any other gay college student, so they used the show to help Mariah and WHAT else? Get ratings!

If she wanted to be more private she could have refrained from posting so much on social media. I'm not suggesting she should have - I just think maybe she enjoyed sticking it to Meri a bit. Agree with you about the ratings thing.

What I meant about social media is apparently people were guessing she was gay and if you're going to come out and you're on a reality show, why not just come out on national TV? It is going to be interesting to see if we can tell if they already knew.

It's pretty sad if Meri was actually surprised by Mariah's news. That would mean she really was very out of touch with her only child.

reply

I have to say I would understand if Meri is upset that Mariah didn't tell her first. It would just go to show how badly their relationship has suffered because of the catfishing incident.
