Sneak Peek for tonight

http://people.com/tv/sister-wives-clip-meri-cries-about-mariah-being-gay/?xid=socialflow_facebook_peoplemag

What strikes me about this clip is how Kody just sets there dumbfounded and doesn't say a word. I'm sure he may say something later in the segment that wasn't shown on the clip.

Robyn's words of wisdom(I mean this sarcastically) "she will get some baby making juice" ..............really?!?!?!

reply

What strikes me is how she is OF COURSE making this all about her. Ugggh come on Meri!! 'I always thought she'd get married and I'd have a son in law.' Omg poor baby what are you gonna do now?? I love how she acts like Mariah's sexuality is taking something away from her (that she never even had). I actually agree with Robin, mostly. She's basically trying to tell her in a nice way to freakin suck it up and be happy for ger daughter.

reply

No matter your stance about gay people and being gay, your child coming out to you is a lot to process and it takes a little time. I believe Meri tweeted out her support of Mariah after last week's episode.

reply

I agree terrie. That is a lot to digest all at once with no clue that it was coming.
I just know that Meri is going to find some way to make it about her... yuck

reply

omg please tell me Robyn, a grown women with children, didn't say that. She's so immature and has totally ruined this family.

reply

I think it is very appropriate for Meri to go through mixed emotions of the situation. All parents have preconceived notions of what their children's lives will be like. Mariah has chosen an alternative lifestyle, and since she is Meri's only child, there has to be some paradigm shifts in Meri's thinking.

That being said, some things Meri said regarding Mariah had to be pretty painful for Mariah to hear, and probably would have been better left in private.

Robyn isn't wrong about the many options available to lesbian couples for procreation, but, seriously --- "baby making juice"?!?!?! What a moronic thing to say.

reply

Thanks Terrie! So much to unpack.

1. The first thing that stood out to me was Mariah's hair. She has wavy blonde hair! It is beyond me why the Brown girls don't want their natural hair color, except Aspyn, when it is so pretty.

2. We're back to Meri and Robyn again. Robyn crying and talking about fillings, Meri crying and Kody sitting there like a lump. Haven't we been here before?

3. What Meri and (Kody) are going through is natural. Kids don't always live your dream and sometimes it's more drastic. You have to process it and go on. I heard Cher say she kept playing her daughter's voicemails over and over because she wanted to hear her old voice before she could get used to her daughter being a son. That is more drastic to get used to, but it's the same situation Meri has to deal with - mourn what she expected then accept the new Mariah.

4. Even though Robyn is irritating, this is how she functions in the family. I think it might be because before she met them she didn't live a cloistered life and she looks at things in a more modern way.

5. WTH was wrong with Kody? Did he swallow some of his hair?

reply

Cher also said it felt like Chastity had died and that she as mourning the loss of her. I think it's normal for Meri to feel a bit if loss.

reply

There's a big difference between your daughter transitioning and your daughter telling you she's gay though... Mariah is still the exact same person. It's not like she EVER even HAD a bf (that we have seen) so idk what Meri's so shocked and sad about.

Maybe it's just the generation I grew up in but if one of my kids ever came out I really wouldn't care lol. And not in a bad way, but in a 'This really doesn't affect me and I still love you' way.

reply

Absolutely agree to all of this!

I feel exactly the same, and Meri and I are the same age.

She's just a self absorbed drama queen.

reply

Maybe it's the Canadian in us lol!

reply

Haha! Must be.

 Good post ciara99...

I think Janelle had the warmest and most honest reaction. I know some people on this board think she's not much help with things like the wedding. I think she may be a little intimidated by the other wives who become whirlwinds. Maybe intimidated isn't the right word, but I think she just fades out when there's a lot going on. She showed a compassion for Mariah that Meri couldn't even fake.
Who was the extra woman in the room, and why was she there? I don't watch each and every episode, so I guess I miss a lot and try to catch up here:)

reply

That was Christine's mother and I have no idea why she was there and smiling. 

reply

Some people have the conspiracy theory that Mariah told Christine and Christine's mom before the big taped reveal.

reply

That woman was Christine's mom. I agree about Janelle. She is always so sincere and honest and doesn't get into the drama...
