Mariah gay
So what does everyone think about Mariah being a lesbian?
shareI don't care one way or the other, but apparently, Meri does.
shareNot my life so if she's happy good for her. I think Meri will have a pitty party about this now because she and Mariah aren't close anymore and Mariah didn't confide this to her before she talked to all the parents. Now that the chapter on catfish seems to be closed there has to be something new for Meri to stay in the story line.
shareLol so true hahaha. I have a feeling that's why Mariah was so upset about the whole catfish thing. Perhaps that's when she was struggling with it the most and tried to go to Meri for help but she was too wrapped up with 'Sam'. So she finally gave up and shut her out altogether.
shareI was thinking something similar to this. I thing it might explain why she was so hurt about the whole catfish situation with Meri.
So Mariah is coming to terms with accepting that she's gay and gathering up the courage to come out to her family. Meanwhile, Meri falls in love with another man, but finds out it's actually a woman, and is immediately put off by it and upset and almost repulsed that she was actually falling in love with a woman instead. That must have been kind of jarring for Mariah amidst her own situation. It probably made her nervous thinking about how her mother would react and that might have manifested itself into resentment.
There may be something to Mariah and Meri having 'issues' at the same time, but Mariah being angry with her mother about the "Sam" situation would a normal response no matter what. However, it is comforting to find out her school is so liberal and accepting in terms of the embarrassment Marish must have felt when Jackie Overton was plastering her mother's photos, voicemails and lies all over the internet.
shareI agree. This will hurt Meri because Mariah was keeping a secret from her, and then shared it with the world and her at the same time.
Side note, I was surprised how often Meri said she was suspicious of "Sam" this episode. According to Mariah, Mariah warned Meri several times that Sam was a catfishes, or at least a phony. So was Meri just saving face by saying she suspected? Her whole story still sounded defensive, and not fully honest.
Also, Mariah was right when she told Kody that Meri would have left Kody for Sam, had he been real. Meri admitted that she had considered that in tonight's episode. I think Mariah's feelings toward her mom are justified.
Noone except Meri and Kody care..............

On her Twitter page, she posted
wow okay y'all making me cry with your support. thank you thank you thank you thank youshare
I guess the rumor was right. I don't care but I wonder how the family is going to take this. The only reason I hate it is that Meri will once again be in the spotlight and quite frankly, I am sick of her...
shareAgreed. Can we get a Christine episode please? Now that I've fallen off the Janelle bandwagon (due to her almost compulsive introspection and lack of support during Maddie's wedding) I'm now a Christine fan.
shareShe is gay, good for her. It's the twenty first century. Thankfully she us not a Duggar.
I don't think her siblings will have an issue. I think the moms save meri will be very supportive,
Kody I think will attempt to be supportive when he gets over the shock. But he is so patriarchal. Not sure how he would handle when Mariah introduced him to a girlfriend, I do think he will try, just be awkward as hell.
Meri I think will one have a pity party as she didn't know first. And then she will be upset because this is her only child. Will Mariah ,marry? Will Mariah have kids? Meri is watching janelle Snd Christine with weddings and now a grandkids. Meri will DJ d a way to make this about herself and how she may never get the chance. She us the only wife with only one child.
I think she will have the support from her siblings...Not from her parents...any of them ( altho they won't show this on air)
A few years back they were asked about having a gay Child, Children due to the number, they would have a few. I believe they said it was not something they wanted or would be supported in their religion.
They support gay marriage

Something tells me their outward support of other alternative lifestyles may not be how they really feel. Kody's obsession with his daughter's being virgins until their wedding night isn't exactly open minded thinking.
shareThey did bring up having a gay child and they were and are very supportive of LGBTQ rights and lifestyles. I don't think anyone is going to have a problem with it, except it is an adjustment. What we're going to see on the show will probably not be the reality.
shareWhy will she question those things about Mariah any more than the other kids because she's gay? Getting married now and having kids is not any different than heterosexual people.
shareI just think it's interesting and kind of puzzling, because for the longest time out of all the kids, she was the only one who seemed pretty adamant that she wanted to be a polygamist. It's kind of contradicting, I guess. So I'm wondering how long she has known she is gay, and if she really did want to be a polygamist or if that was just her trying to force herself to not be gay - kind of like overcompensating for it.
shareShe was saying she wanted to be a polygamist when she was a young teen ager, before the family moved to Las Vegas and before she went to college. That was her experience, so not too surprising. I remember that after she went to college, she talked about how she had learned differently. I would guess that is when she started to realize that she might be gay.
shareI suspect it was a combination of both.
shareI'm very surprised she's a lesbian. Glad her family is supportive.
shareI haven't watched the episode yet, but is Mariah really gay? Is it possible she's just experimenting or could be bi? I know someone whose daughter was 'gay' for most of high school, but is now happily married to a man. Could it be a response to the catfishing saga?
Will watch the show today, so that may answer my questions, but it also seems a bit contrived for the show.
Mariah told the parents she was gay in last night's episode and then it went right into the 3rd hour which was a repeat.
sharePeople dont usually come out and say "I'm gay", if they are just experimenting. They will experiment first to decide if they are really gay before saying anything.
shareMy friend's daughter did. Lived as gay through high school and college. Then met a guy and married him and is now happily living a straight lifestyle. I think she's probably bi, but needed to try both to see what she felt best as.
shareExactly, she was probably bi, but not experimenting. Its one thing is Mariah had said I think I might be gay, but she said, I'm gay.
