First of all, I think it was awful that Mariah didn't speak to her bio parents before making the announcement to the family that she is gay. Meri looked really surprised and she had hives on her chest so I think it was an authentic surprise to her. It may have been intentional on Mariah's part to hurt Meri.

Kody and Meri cannot even have a conversation about Mariah's news without Robyn mediating. That is really sad. You'd think a situation like that might bring them closer. Instead, they bicker about where to sit to have a conversation.

It's interesting you say that because after watching it again, I think Kody and Meri knew before the announcement. In fact, part of me thinks EVERYONE knew. Why was Christine's mother in there if this was a serious announcement from Mariah to her parents and why did she have a huge smile on her face? Also, everyone jumped for joy but Kody and Meri. They both had the same reaction - stone-faced. They showed no reaction. Nothing. Plus Kody has either said nothing or he's embraced Mariah's lifestyle like he's known about if for a long time. They're both Mariah's parents - if neither one of them knew, why are they zeroing in on Meri's reaction and Kody's reaction is being downplayed? Hashtag Drama. Hashtag Editing. Hashtag produced.

Considering the production company isn't there all the time filming I have often wondered how they coordinate all of these shocking announcements. Do the kids call up the production company and say "you will want to show up on Tuesday because I am going to come out to my family?"

I think the family has just become really good at acting so that they can reenact scenes that have already taken place.

I think we saw that 'acting' and 'producing' during Mykelti and Tony's talk with them when the baby kept changing places. If one were to think about it long enough, they would come to your conclusion.

The only reason I think it was really a surprise is Meri's reaction. She had hives and blotches on her chest and was tearing up. None of them are good actors. If anything, maybe Christine's mom knew thru Christine, through Aspen.

Meri probably has had permanent hives since the Sam incident.  However, you brought up another interesting point. When did Mariah tell the siblings? I bet I can go back to her Twitter account and figure it out because she did a 180 on social media at some point. She shut down her Instagram account and her tweets changed. That's when she changed her bio from 'just another TV star' to 'ask me about my radical feminist agenda'. I bet that's how the parents found out - from their kids - which means they all knew and it was just fake as heck.

Not sure how long she's had it, but Mariah's triangle wrist tattoo would be noticed and understood by her siblings.

But she doesn't see them that often. I think they found out by her telling them. I still think some, if not all of the parents knew before they 'were told on the show'.

It sure seemed like Christine's mom knew what the big news was by the huge grin on her face even before Mariah said a word. I think Mariah told some of her siblings and they told Christine and her mom. Meri and perhaps Kody seemed really surprised and quite caught off guard.

Meri and Kody's reaction seemed normal to me, but the other SW being joyful and huggy seemed fake and actually, a little odd.

None of the Browns are that great at being "actors". Having said that, it's completely possible (we will never know either way) they knew ahead of time. Perhaps they were even told right before filming that segment, BUT, somehow, I don't think Kody and Meri's reaction to the news was faked. Everyone keeps forgetting how Meri and Kody were raised and how they were brought up. Of course this news would throw them for a loop, BUT that doesn't mean that they don't support Mariah.

I think Christine is a great actor. She would do well on any soap opera. 

Right now Mariah and Meri arent close, so it would be really fake of her to tell Meri. Just b/c its her bio-mom doesnt mean she has to tell her before hand.
