I know that they said that in the session with the therapist; however, during the first two seasons of the show we didn't see that.
Kody identified it as being the last 12 years. Now I am wondering what happened between them 6 years before we met this family. Six years ago Kody described each of his wives and he described Meri as his soul mate.
As we approach the season finale I am going to miss Tamryn Hall, because she would have picked up on that discrepancy. Tamryn read up on this family (including reading their book) and understood them.
If their relationship was on the rocks 12 years ago, the last 6 years have been a lie.

I don't think they felt obligated to share their marital problems with the entire world. What Meri did with the catfish forced their hand. It's not that difficult to understand.

From the footage of the early episodes it seemed like Meri and Kody were very close. The rules about physical displays of affection did not seem to apply to Meri and Kody, for they were often touching, and somewhat affectionate. Meri looked at Kody with puppy dog eyes back then, and now she cannot even look him in the face.
