This was just created and they do try to get you to donate, so watch out for that.

Thanks for posting this link.
I'm tempting the wrath of the whatever, from high atop the thing.
Here's another petition someone created. https://www.change.org/p/save-imdb-message-boards-from-closure
shareI've signed both petitions, however, it doesn't bode well, that people are not coalescing around one petition.
shareThese won't do a bit of good. They've made their decision and I'm not buying "something better" coming along later.
shareThere's obviously a bigger picture here - Amazon has owned IMDb for almost 20 years - I'm surprised they let it go this long. They probably have plans to create revenue raising content. However, they know the message boards are extremely popular, no matter what they said, so I think they will have something in the future but it will probably look different than this and not be free.
shareYou're probably on to something there. With Wal-Mart trying to topple Amazon, Amazon is going to do anything and everything to stay on top. I don't know about anybody else but I won't pay to post to a message board or other content for that matter.
shareI doubt Wal-Mart will ever topple Amazon - I don't even know why Wal-Mart is going in different directions. What they do & have done seems to work. I think some companies don't know when to stop diversifying & competing.
