One of my favorite scenes was when Julie and Jason were telling their friends their decision to have a baby together. Their friends' reactions were PRICELESS. Maya Rudolph's face was especially hysterical, LOL! I can only imagine what my friends' reactions would be If I ever came to them with the same news. But I also know that in the end, I will always have their support and understanding. I think friendship was a very important theme throughout this story. This film captured great 'friend' moments; the intimate conversations, the jokes, and honesty you only share with your best friends, and I really appreciated it.
I really enjoyed the dynamics between the friends and couples in this movie. There were some great scenes dedicated to each couple. I was impressed by how the actors work well as a team. They were so believable as life partners. Moving from single life to family life allows the actors to show great range. I'm curious about the character and scene study that went into it. I would love to learn how these 'couples' prepare together. I'm sure they had a lot of fun filming all over NYC together.
Jennifer Westfeldt and Adam Scott, as Julie and Jason, were perfect partners. Their characters were very honest and open to one another and I thought the relationship was very believable. As the plot progresses, life becomes more challenging for the two. Their adaptability to the story, as actors, and each other's character transformations, was clear-cut. That's why it was so intense and heartbreaking at times. They really brought you into their personal space and took you on their journey.
This film was so heartfelt! It's all about the conversations you have with your besties and those moments you have behind closed doors. I thought it was very revealing but it was honest, had real emotions, and was mixed with humor to make you appreciate life. I laughed, I cried, and I questioned the modern world. It was like a long conversation about love, romance, marriage, having kids, and getting older.
