Sharp, Funny + Touching

I really feel like the film was written by someone who had been observing their friends with kids for years. The interactions between the characters and plot line seemed to reflect actual people to a point where it was uncomfortable at times but also rang true. It was unconventional and I liked that it had a bit of a potty mouth! I really enjoyed the pace of this film.

That aside, there were definitely some "Nooooooo" moments where the characters were making mistakes and I wanted them to stop! But I guess that just speaks to the fact that this film felt realistic to me! Haha.

It felt very realistic with lots of ups and downs. A great story of two friends with an unconventional relationship - gotta love Jennifer Westfeldt for creating these unique characters =)

This was a cute indie movie with great casting, great performances, and a unique story. It was definitely sharp and smart, a movie to get you thinking about life in a different way. There were many adorable moments with banter that’s funny and quotable. It was interesting to see this cast of comedians step away from their usual comedic routines to deliver more drama. Most of all, this movie was honest. The performances were very touching. I can’t believe Jennifer starred in, wrote, and directed it. It’s great that we have a multi-talent such as her to contribute honest and good quality work. Her work always offers a unique challenge to other artists and inspiration for creative communities.

I agree with this and have to add that I really enjoyed Jennifer's performance. She was so genuine, relatable and truly captured a realistic character with whom you could be best friends and have a real relationship. She shone in this film and I was really affected by her performance. I definitely got choked up in a couple of the scenes. Great work, loved this.

@mxphi it's true, it's very realistic!
That's what I really enjoyed about it.
It doesn't hold back on showing what happens in relationships behind closed doors or the words that are shared between friends. I admire Jennifer for making this bold story. Maybe it's too close for some people's comfort but I think it's time that we discuss the nature of society and relationships and the obstacles we face in family life. It's time we laugh about it too. I appreciate characters like Julie who are fun, fearless, and taking chances on life. We need more stories written about these types of women. They exist and they are inspiring! I felt really connected to her. Maybe it was Jennifer's fabulous performance, but she had a Sharp, Funny + Touching story and I was absolutely entertained.
