Meaningful Friendships

I loved that this film really focused on the value of a strong friendship between partners. I feel like this is a part of relationships that so many rom coms overlook and I felt like it was very authentic.

I agree. You can fall in love and as they say "one hot chick is someone else's pain in the arse". "In love" doesn't last - but friends who love each other become part of each other.

Love it!

Haha! I've never heard that saying before, but it really reflects this film.

I love Jennifer for this! She's always discussing her friends in interviews, and how they are the inspiration for her films. This is a great movie to watch with friends.

It feels like they have been friends for a really long time.

It certainly makes for a great movie to watch with your friends

Agreed! I bet she's a great friend. And I agree with the original post as well. This film is such an interesting study of the evolution of a relationship and how kids can affect them. I really liked that the relationships were all unique and posed different problems - the couple who's relationship is based on sex, the couple who love each other but are exhausted by children and finally the couple who doesn't fall in love until after having a kid. I really enjoyed Jennifer's performance and thought the whole cast was so great!

Am I the only one who got a little choked up while watching this film? I swear, I'm not PMSing or anything, I just thought the whole film was so thoughtful, sweet and genuine! It was literally STUFFED with gems! Awkward family moments, uncomfortable gatherings and the budding love between two friends kept me entertained throughout. The scenes between Maya Rudolph and Jennifer Westfeldt were some of my favorites... I can completely see myself and my best friend becoming like these two. This friendship was probably my favorite, BUT I also loved that the characters' of Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt had a long term friendship which grew into love!! Jennifer plays a good friend so well that it's not hard to believe why people would gravitate towards her as a friend or fall in love with her. Anyhow, I totally agree with you, the friendships in this film were the key to a great film.

Hahaha! so true! This film had some great moments that were awkward, sweet, dramatic, and genuine. The friends were awesome! I especially loved Maya and Jennifer. Kristin Wiig and Jon Hamm's relationship was an interesting look at 'other' relationships. I loved this group of actors and thought they all got a great chance to shine in this film with their characters own stories. Jason and Julie had the best relationship, a meaningful friendship to prove that honesty, trust, and genuine love gives a relationship good foundation. I think the film could have ended either way, with them ending up together or not. It's well written so it could have worked either way in telling the moral of the story. But I'm glad they chose that ending because it was more real, it gives hope, and it's what we all wanted for Julie.

I have to say... I loved this movie. And I loved that the stupid man was actually smart enough and brave enough to realize he was in love with his best friend.

I wish my best friend could see it.

I'm not weird. I'm limited edition.

I'm glad it showed the Megan Fox and Adam Scott relationship. I see one too many young sexy girls with older men for all the wrong reasons; money, sex, attention, for meaningless fun. Meaningful relationships last because they grow together with all the right qualities for a good foundation. That's when your friends become your family.

Ugh, right?!!!
This movie was great in showing everything about relationships. And the cast was top-notch
