Okay I admit this might be a dumb question. Why does Erika Jane do what she does? I mean, it looks fun to dance and wear awesome clothes and entertain, I could see that! What I don't get is the gay dude thing. Is there any sexual pleasure for her in doing this, if all the guys are gay? Or, does she just like the money that comes with it. That alone would be fun to have....but her husband seems rich so I don't think it's just about the money. Does she hope that there are some studly straight guys in the crowd getting off on her? Maybe someone can explain it to me. I know Madonna also had/has a huge gay following but she always appealed to straight guys too.

Like, the show in Greece had the gorgeous guys in back of her, dancing for the gays in the audience. She's not like a stripper dancing for straight men....just trying to grasp other than money, what's in it for her.

Do you assume every performer in the world does it to get sexual pleasure? What a weird conclusion. She moved to LA to become an actor/performer. It's what she wanted to do as a career. It didn't work out for her, she married a rich dude. And now she gets to live her dream and be a singer/performer.

No, why would I think that? U2 performs their great rock tunes, but they are not of a sexual nature. Strippers strip to incite sexual pleasure. Ericka has a sexual performance, yet is not performing to folks who would enjoy it that way. Is my question that stange?

Ha ha, okay question answered (for you). I repeat, her whole schtick is sexual, yet to viewers who will not be turned on. I'm asking this to be explained to me, plain and simple.

And now she gets to live her dream and be a singer/performer.

Okay, and like I said, it does look fun. She gets to travel all over, wear cool clothes....I am just a little confused sometimes watching her and wonder if there's another level.

I think she enjoys singing, so for her it's a dream that became a reality.

Her BFF, though, is annoying, but he's also funny. Like when he told her that her Dubai dress needed a moment! LOL

Why does it need to be for sexual gratification or money? Why does any performer do what they do? Maybe she just enjoys performing. Its only controversial because she is a woman in her forties. Brad Pitt is in his 50's and still stars in movies as a sex object. It's so annoying that women past a certain age are expected to behave in certain ways, and if they don't, there has to be some sort of explanation for it

I think it becomes a problem when it doesn't fit a person's "persona!" EJ is being EJ; Rinna's an old bag trying to hang on! I remember my freshman English teacher had to be closing in on 60, hair brushed forward and pinned, but wore coullots, leather vest, boots, and other clothing for someone 30 years younger! EJ hasn't hit that point yet, but others have with overdone makeup, tons of hair, and clothing a little young for them!  

Really, fiero? Who do you think overdoes it on this show. I know that Vicky on the Orange County wears the most deplorable, hideous outfits, but I'm curious who you think overdoes it on this show. Lisa V with her makeup? I see that, and agree.

But Erika Jane does not look old to me, she is beautiful.

EJ is not one of those I think overdoes it; Oc's Vicki at the top of the list along with Tamra who thinks grandma should continue looking like a hooker! LVP's makeup just makes her look older IMO! Rinna's barely hanging on as I said with the lips, hair, and skimpy clothing!  

Erika Jayne has gay back up dancers beacuase

1) In an industry that favors youth and sexism, gay men were probably the most supportive of her persona.
2) Gays can be a very loyal fan base, just ask Madonna, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and even Lisa Vanderpump for example.
3) Her husband is old and probably does not feel secure having his wife dancing with shirtless straight he gods.
4) She has a "team" that manage and dress her up, make her up, and show her some choreography. Most men in these fields are gay anyway.
5) Erika goes where she can have fun and be celebrated. Gay men provide that for her because women can be catty and skeptical about her work and straight men might want something in return.

This is why she works with gay men.

Is it really controversial? To who? She's beautiful. I don't see any age there. I do see a woman doing a very sexual show, yet not for straight guys. I think I'm allowed a little confusion.

To the posters that make fun of her being "middle aged" and that she looks ridiculous because of her age. I think she can pull it off. She doesn't look like she's in her forties at all

Another reason is that she has no real singing talent. If she sat on stage with a guitar that would be obvious. But playing up what sex appeal she has left can camouflage the lack of talent. Also, straight men want to watch younger women, so the only thing she's got is a gay fan base that loves her "fabulousness", they love any female that strongly flaunts the sexuality n a fabulous way. They love Liza Minnelli for god's sake. So this way she gets to indulge her fantasy of being a singing star.

I think it's because she doesn't want to cause tension between her and her husband. I feel like her husband is kind of controlling and jealous.

Hmm, maybe. I hadn't thought of that. He seems pretty easy going to me, though, at least the scenes I've seen him in. I might miss a few here and there.

Last season, she seemed really submissive to her husband. Almost like a teenage girl afraid of displeasing her father. Their scenes are like watching two strangers together, so I'm guessing they don't spend much time together.

Agreed, he's much older and seems to talk down to her in an old-timey way. He probably wouldn't let her be surrounded by all of those good looking men if they were straight.
