I really enjoyed season 1, but I find season 2 disappointing. So far I've watched only 2 episodes but I found them really weak.
Episode 1 just left me stunned - of course they were going to kill him.
And episode 2 was just dripping with Hollywood pathos.
Should I go on ???
I vote yes - it is one of the best sitcoms going, particularly as my fave character Billy's dodgy dealing is beginning to be focused on.

No, I don't. Both of them are great.
shareAs you say, tastes differ, but I have actually enjoyed series 2 more. I took a while to get into 'Silk' but I really started to get interested in it about halfway through the first series. I think this series is excellent, and the episode involving the court-martial I felt was one of the best so far.
shareI have to say not just the dr storyline tonight but Fatima's ongoing storyline really moved me I felt so for her although really her troubles were not over. I do wish they had not brought Billy's storyline into it though couldn't he have just had a bit of mid life crisis or something?
sharethey had to bring in more of Billy so they can go down the Billy/Martha road... I wonder how'll they work out the cancer storyline next series. Maybe Jake can be less of a muppet and Billy teaches him something.

Now, with Caroline Warwick joining Shoe Lane, and with Billy's personal story (not revealing any spoilers), Series 3 is looking very interesting.

I think the series benefits a lot from the introduction of particularly Phil Davies' and Frances Barber's characters. It was good they got rid of the pupils from series one, their storyline was always a bit over the top for me.
I agree...series 3 should be great. Can't wait.
Somehow i like the way they've managed to turn the character of Clive Reader around. The fact that he didn't get Silk spurred a early mid-life-crisis in him that brought out better character traits for some reason (well, at least regarding his moral attitude to his cases - in series one he was just mostly an arrogant bastard, which is still is now...but a bit more mellow)...they gave the character a bit more depth which I like.
Phil Davies was just overall brilliantly nasty...wonderful performance!
Thought the 2nd ep of Season 2 was painfully bad... Couldn't finish it. Maybe a new writer? I should check.
But other than that 1 episode I absolutely love this show. Martha is brilliant. Her voice is sensational. Billy is such a great character. RPJ is so cute. All the women are terrific, even Jo (from MI5), even though I disliked her character Harriet up and down.
