Did the first episode trick me? Should I keep watching?

I LOVE legal shows. Started with the Good Wife, which in my opinion (and probably won't be shared by many others) is the best legal drama show to date. Shares a love of court room proceedings and really shows the weirdness and how bizarre the law can get. Rarely are the cases sensationalized, and the characters are smart in their tactics on how to present their cases. If there's room to object, they object. Law and Order has got to be my second favourite now. Not for the cop parts, those are boring. The "Order" part is what gets me going. It's not as genuine though, where they'll let a lawyer or a witness go on long speeches for dramatic effect, even if there's room to object to the testimony or the relevance of it. But it's close and it's mature enough and usually, there's a clever enough twist on the legal proceedings I forgive it.

So out of a recommendation I found online I picked up Silk, turned on the first episode, and while it's UK law, I was a little lost, but I was still really impressed by what was going on. The moral ambiguity of defending a guilty person was interesting to me. Then I watched the second episode... I feel I was absolutely tricked. Long winded, uninteruppted speeches and testimonies, with no follow ups from the prosecutor. We didn't get to see a trial, we got to see segments of half of a case with little to no contrast. Turned me off of the show entirely.

So should I try again, pop in ep 3, or should I walk away? Again, I'm interested in interesting cases and seeing people wrangling the legal system in a unique way. I'm not interested in a show that's primarily a character drama.

I've been involved with lawyers for most of my life and the driving force in the law is "character drama."

the show is unrealistic in that everyone is so good looking

I know. You'd almost think it was made in the US with our obsession with all things pretty. I like British TV because their actors look human, not all botoxed, blinding white teeth and big fake breasts. Therefore, the British are more real and more attractive, to me.

And it's not just the people, even the houses and room look real, lived in and not props.
