Was this film even in theaters? Unaswered QUestions about the Film?

Just finished watching and I must say it was impressive and really touching. As a guy I watched it becasue I thought it would be one of those haha buddy/BROMANCE type of high school reunion comedies like American Pie but I really was captivated by the acting, the music selction, the casting was excellent as well with a variety of familiar yet not too A lister faces. It made me question a few things though:

Looking at the pictures from Chaning tatum and rosario dawson in the film, some of them look real. Did they know each other back when he was just a no name model or upcoming actor?

Is Oscar Isaac a reall musician and whose wrote the song he sang in the movie?

The photos at the reunion were doctored. They used old photos of the cast and cut them together. In fact, I recognized a lot of them from old PR stuff they've done. As for Oscar Isaac, he is actually a musician and wrote two songs for the movie. One was the one he sings in the karaoke bar and another song that was featured in the movie and can be found on the soundtrack.
