the woman: a relative?

when the father shows the woman to his family, the mother watches her with surprise. Maybe it's because she knows what her husband is going to do with her, but since the movie leaves to you the reason why a woman is found in the forest I though she might be one of the family's rejected children. even when the father beats the pregnant girl he states something about her sisters, not one but more. since they held one captive with the dogs, one might have been left in the forest. ah, what a great movie....

She isn't a relative. This is a sequel to The Offspring. You don't have to see that to understand The Woman but it gives us her backstory. A cannibal clan was massacred and she was the only one that survived.

Sorry, my mistake. "The woman" is the prequel.

No it's not. It's a sequel.
She's hurt because she was stabbed, before fleeing at the end of "Offspring".

You don't need to know that (could just be a wild woman from somewhere) but the film offers this for those who've seen the earlier film.

Or the TWO earlier novels if you go by "The Woman" novel.

actually the woman is the last of her clan... when we first see her on the movie (running in the woods) it's the connection with the prequel called "offspring"... you should check that movie to... it´s very interesting also, but "the woman" it´s better in my understanding... greetings...
