Same here op . I wasn't shocked at all . This story has been done before ,so I kind of knew where everything was heading , to some degree .

It was good...but not shocking .

I agree completely. I don't see what makes this film any better/worse, or disturbing than a dozen other films out there in circulation. I just don't see what the big deal was. Sure I wanted to beat the crap out of the dad just like any other loving human being would, but nothing he did or anyone else did here is that shocking to me...

Om, I was shocked by the kid in the dog house. Shocked doesn't mean disturbed. It means my jaw dropped and I had absolutely no idea that was coming.
