the ending (spoilers)

Am I the only one here that thinks that Aimee died in the accident and everything that happened after that was in Sutter's imagination? I mean, it's so obvious

reply

Come on this isn't *beep* Inception. I mean it's bad enough when people are trying to find some secret meaning to overly twisted movies, now we have to assume even simple indies movie are this stupid ? I don't know it's almost insulting to this movie to think it would try something like that.

I'm sorry I don't mean to be rude, it's just that I'm so sick of this trend. People looking for clues like they're godamn sleuth instead of just appreciating the story for what it is.

reply

No and there's nothing that points to that theory.

reply

Nope, nothing like that at all.

reply

No, not at all. Although it would be interesting to read your theory because there was nothing suggesting this at all throughout the film.

No, the director's commentary on the DVD makes it clear that Aimee was meant to survive without permanent physical damage (but it was meant to be a wake-up call to her that was further reinforced when he didn't show up at the bus depot).

Ponsoldt said he could have made a dramatic statement by killing Aimee, but that most of the time real life just isn't like that. Guys like Sutter go for years and decades always on the edge of causing disaster but somehow always managing to get by. Look at his father.

What is interesting is that in real life Miles Teller was in an auto accident which is how he got the faint scars on his face and shoulder.

That accident sure was jarring though, huh?

Even though everyone has replied with 'absolutely not', I think the whole setup and the jarring scene of the car accident has a vibe of 'we are now in dreamland'. Even though it wasn't that type of inception movie it is the way those kinds of dream sequences are setup in my opinion. So in summary I think you make a smart observation even though incorrect.

reply

No, no one thinks that. The movie nor the book gives any indication that this is the situation.

That's a very reaching conclusion.
