Any reason why that idiot wouldn't have gotten his driver's license revoked and his car impounded for driving drunk in the first place (or moreover, thrown in jail)? Why am I supposed to feel sorry for this spoiled, ungrateful *beep* anyway?

i you fail to see the bigger picture in that you really haven't been watching the movie at all. Besides he didn't cause the accident by drunk driving. he pushed her away. litterally. And evenso if he got his license revoked you'd have done a complete 180 and raved about the film?
It's correct what custom22 says: You don't get the big picture.
So here, very short, vey easy, your little "Transformers" brain in mind: He pushes her away and leaves her alone at the bus station to Philly, because he wants to! Because he's convinced that he's no good for her. And that she deserves better.
