The Parasite isn't that big of a deal IRL
It's harmless to humans and while it replaces a fish's tongue, it doesn't actually cause the fish any other harm and they live out normal lives.

shareOk, then when a parasite drains all the blood out of your mouth and replaces your tongue, you'd be fine with it, right?
The parasite in this movie is a mutated version that eats animals AND humans from the inside out. The mutation is what makes it scary and dangerous. Not the real life version. Lol
lol, what sandifay62 said. The parasite in the movie is a mutated version. Besides, the real life parasite isn't so harmless. It eats the fish's tongue and replaces it.
While it acts like the fish's tongue it eats food the fish is trying to eat. It benefits at the expense of the fish. Wouldn't call that "normal life" for the fish.
horror movies have never been about 100% realism, its about playing off of myths and realities and making it ...so much more, duh dude. Ok, watch the movie "matinee" with john goodman and absorb the message from that film.
