So no one else liked it?

I thought it was terrifying, not all horror movies have to be action packed, and blood and guts all the way through...this is actually had a well thought out, solid plot, and was actually plausible which makes it even more scary.

I thought it was a great movie. It's not that its that...scary during, but when you start thinking about it, like man that could actually happen...I decided I was switching to milk and milk only for a week after I saw it.

This is a great example of the sub-genre. This is honest to god terrifying. The funny thing is nobody hating on this movie says anything other than "WORST MUVI EVA! THE REPORTER HAD AN ANNOYING VOICE! THIS MUVI SUXXXXXX!"

Real good criticism there....

Any found footage flick on this website seems to attract an inordinate amount of trolls. Even more than usual.

This film really got under my skin. What makes it's scary is that it is plausible. Very much so. Bacterial outbreaks like this have happened before just not this extent and the isopod is a real creature, adding to the creep factor of the film. I felt itchy and uncomfortable throughout the whole film. This movie does what the PA films utterly fail to do for me: Make me believe this actually happened. That is the one thing a found footage film needs to accomplish and The Bay did just that.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Didn't think it was going to be this good considering the rating on IMDb. But I'm glad that didn't dissuade me.

I've been scrolling through the board looking for posts on the movie. content but all I've read is complaints about found footage. If someone complained about the movie as in, "why did the cop do this," etc, there could be a discussion but no such luck. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie and the possibility of realism. This could actually happen along with the pandemonium That occurred in the movie.

Yeah, I liked it too, especially also because of the plausability. Most people liked Contagion better, but it was too emotionless and neat for my taste.

Don't mistake hate speech for free speech. Remember, hate speech kills!

reply

I preferred Contagion, because after working as a microbiologist that movie was the most realistic "what if" scenario that I had ever seen in film. This movie was a fun ride but, in my opinion, not really plausible at all.

I, too, was terrified by this movie. I spent the last hour in a state of full-body clench, and I screamed out loud twice. I was really surprised when I started reading reviews -- I guess I don't understand what people find scary any more. But this movie really freaked me out.

I thought it was excellent and truly truly terrifying. I haven't seen a movie that scared me this much in a long time. I actually had to stop watching it for a bit, because I couldn't stand the suspense of whether that little baby was going to be infected (and in fact, he may have been - they left that open - you see the parasites coming out of that woman while the mother is trying to get the kid out of the car - did one of them get on him?) Then, they only say the mother didn't want to participate in the film, but no mention of the baby.
I thought it was plausible, too. A perfect storm of pollutants (a 'small' nuclear spill, chicken *beep* steroids), greed, and government neglect.
It was really well done and thought-provoking.

reply

Agreed, I thought it was excellent. I groaned at first when I realised it was a 'found footage' genre film, but the multiple story telling perspectives was excellent. An example of a cliché horror plot made pretty gripping by an innovative story-telling technique.

I liked it.

I like 'certain' found footage movies.

Cloverfield, Chronicle, Diary of the dead, the part in'VHS'with the
crazy snake girl, to name a few.

Didnt care for the Blair Witch movie,
though I admired their ability to get it to market and make
a ton of box office cash on a limited investment.

Hated the Paranormal activity series.

I found THE BAY to be really well done for a found footage movie,

worthy of a look.

As a fan of found footage movies, I enjoyed this. I won't say it was terrifying as I don't really find movies scary, but it was great in what it tried to do. I too was a bit taken out of the story with the "Skype interview" that was going on during the film, but not enough that I couldn't enjoy the movie.
