So if its not an airborne disease....what about the birds?

I actually liked this movie but I have to ask..... I get the fish dying but it makes zero sense that all of the birds would have dropped out of the sky at the same time.... can anybody make sense of this?

I think the birds dropping out of the sky were probably drinking the water or eating the fish. It wasn't a disease.

What was killing everything were mutated parasites that got into people and animals through their larvae when they came in contact with the water. The steroids from the chicken poop got into the parasites and made them grow faster and bigger and breed faster.

Yeah my bad I understood what happened I just called it a disease out of habit. But why would the birds all die at the same time? I guess maybe the traveled together and had eating the fish or came in contact with the water at the same time, though that is pushing it a little.

I don't think they ever said that birds died at the same time. But even if they did, that's not so much of a stretch, it's not unusual for birds to travel in flocks.

A) Many coastal birds flock.
B) Flocks of birds feed at the same time.
C) In many bird flocks, the birds will linger in the same area around where a fellow bird has died. If they were all infected, the parasite, which is pretty fast, would be able to kill all the birds of the flock during the timespan of the birds' mourning process.
D) No confirmation all the birds happened to die at the same time, it would be staggered just like with the humans, hence why point C is relevant

I still believe that peace and plenty and happiness can be worked out some way. I am a fool.

No birds died.

The collection of news videos in the beginning with the birds falling from the sky are not connected to the film. Those are just real events creating a kind of a base of realism for the events that will happen in the film so that it's more believable, I think.
