Not great but not terrible

I've definitely seen worse found footage videos and the concept of this one was actually pretty good. The elements that lead to the outbreak of giant parasitic trilobytes is actually pretty smart and well thought out. And the scene where they enhance the audio of the two cops going into the house and you can hear the people without tongues screaming and begging to be killed is bonechilling. That said there were parts of this that I didn't like. I was upset that for a found footage movie they broke the barrier a number of times. Two I can think of are one instance where they pan across the bay at night near the end but you can't really tell why there's a camera just out hovering over the bay filming. There are actually a number of wide panning shots like this throughout the film that quickly show up and we're just supposed to assume that there must've coincidentally have been a security camera sitting up at just the right angle to give dramatic effect for those 2 seconds of wide shot. Another example is when the mayor is speeding through town and we keep seeing the close up shot of his face and the street reflected through his eyes. What he just decided to get a camera and film his face as he was speeding away from town? Unfortunately some of the flaws keep me from being able to truly give a top score to a film that I already had low expectations for. I'd say that my overall impression is better than I expected but not too much.
