Is it official that if one gets a movie role there is an option to include other SNL cast members too? What gives?

I don't get the hype of SNL..... Maybe because I'm English but surely good comedy is funny no matter what the language (even though we both speak English)

Couldn't you say the same for most office based comedy films that have SNL cast members in them?
