When the zombies are inside the base and one of them is trying to attack Kim, why does Robert close the door on her, rather than spend three seconds trying to help her out.
I realise noone liked her, but seriously? Why would he do that.. and then feel so guilty that he spends the rest of the movie trying to redeem himself? It makes no sense.
Fear. he was scared and after kung fu Kim (seriously, a middle aged female scientist suddenly is combat queen? another reason not to like her character) was fighting the zombie he probably thought she was infected and didn't want to be around someone who was infected.
He didn't want the other girl later on to come too because he thought she was infected.
I like to think though it was karma. Kim was a Kunt and deserved it...
... in movieland rules she did. Real life a punch would've sufficed
Kim was the only one not incompetent and got betrayed by the no brainer and when he left the vehicle with low battery to go to the one with full battery it surely wasnt out of guilt or remorse.

He didn't try to redeem himself either. I thought that was a special touch. He volunteers to go out to test the 2nd rover, acting like he's sorry for leaving Kim to die, but then it turns out the whole act was so that he could do what he wanted to in the first place: leave the potentially infected blond behind.
Utterly shameless self interest. The beautiful thing is I'm sure he did regret the things he did, and hated himself for doing them, even as he allowed himself to be persuaded to do them. That kind of compounded self hate and disgust, made negligible by his crippling cowardice - beautifully tragic elements.
