I'm not hating on Russell Crowe. The man is FINE. And aside from that, I love his presence in the character of Javert. But the voice. Oh sweet Jesus, deliver us all.

I know that Crowe sings (or has in the past) in a rock band. And maybe his voice is suited for that, and may even sound good singing it. But not this. It was just horrid. His was the only voice that was really that bad (in my opinion anyway).

Still, he looked damn good tho.

Yeah when he sung he really crapped his pants. Hard! And didn't change them

His voice isn't that bad, or didn't have to be that bad. You can hear some power and resonance in certain notes, if he'd had enough training to bring that out and to sing in tune he could have been very impressive in the role.

Which brings up the question of why the fuck he didn't get that training! He had the money and he had the time, his career wasn't actually on fire at that point.
