In the last episode (Feb. 24th) they showed the teens what the inmates who were in the isolation cells ate. It looked like a ball of mud lol. Anyone know what it was & what was in it? (Or do I even want to know?)

I did a search on prison food a while back and found it. That's not quite how I pictured the "food" to look like, but that must be it. I did talk to a guy at my last job who spent two months in the joint and he said it was pretty much Govt issued corn flakes and milk - stuff like that. The "good" stuff was available through the cantine / commisary.
Ugh, I didn't realize edible stuff to even look like that lol. I googled it and it said it has a texture like meatloaf but can contain everything from vegtables, fruit, meat, bread, non-dairy cheese and mix all this with vegetable oil, tomato paste, powdered milk and dehydrated potato flakes. That absolutely sounds disgusting lol.

The loaf is everything served in that day's meal, baked or packed all together. By law most prisons have to serve Inmates in the hole the same foods as the inmates in Gen.pop. So some prisons just mix eveything off a food tray together and serve it. Granted these are normally inmates who have thrown their food or drinks at staff in the past. Row well and Live,41
In California prisons, they call them "joot balls", and from what I read (from Monster: The Autobiography Of An L.A. Gang Member), they taste as bad as they sound; like old spinach mixed with dirt and *beep*
Someone up there is right about inmates being served that if they throw their food tray, which is apparently illegal, but as a tax payer, would you want belligerent convicts throwing his/her food three times a day? Joot balls are meant as a punishment and a deterrent.
If you want to laugh and be disgusted at the same time, I recommend looking up what a "fifi towel" is. Prison is just sad.
