If a kid needs this program to straighten up.........

If a kid needs this program to straighten up.........they are too far gone to be worth saving. The whole premise of the program and filming it for public entertainment gives you a good idea of how twisted our benighted country has become.

There are no heroes here -no one and nothing is redeemed ---oh a few of these young monsters will swerve a little and toe the line just outside of serious criminality --but the vast majority are too far down the road to be productive citizens. Nothing is validated --- Again there no heroes and nothing admirable---not in the kids---not in the prisoners and not in the producers of the show or in those of you who get a jolt out of watching this stuff.

I sort of agree. BUT, not all kids who go to do these programs are horrendous crackheads. When I was 15, I got put on probation for stealing. My sister stole a girls purse (on a school bus) and since I was with her, I got in trouble for it also. Part of my probation was to do a "prison tour" which is sort of the the same thing that they do in these shows, minus the cameras. We did most of the things they do on the show except for the one on ones (we did a big group talk). We also had to work in the "yard". It really sucked but I don't think myself or some of the other kids deserved to have to do the tour at all. My sister didn't have to go on it and everything was dropped from her record. I think it was a luck of the draw type thing. That was my first and last offense and it was almost 10 years ago. So, yes, the real *beep* heads on the show who are just terrible and do drugs/fight/etc really should be there. Especially the ones who have been in juvie multiple times. There are some seriously bad kids. I think maybe the reason they don't talk to all the kids every time is that some of them either really shouldn't be there or their crimes are just petty and not worth the camera time.
