If you pay attention to their stories, The parents are the problem...

...on one of the episodes a sister told her brother [who went to the program]

"the way you feel when you come home and mom and see mom passed out from drinking is the way I feel when I see you passed out from [I forgot the drug]"

that let me know that their is no adult responsibility in that home and the kid has a reason for being a dumbass.

I bet if we did some background stories we would find out that half of these kids are how they are because their parents were negletful in some ways.

That only goes so far. Most of them are in their mid teens, which is old enough to stop blaming others for your actions. They know what they're doing is wrong. If they continue to do the wrong thing, it's their fault, not their parents.

Not all of the parents are angels, but there have been plenty of kids form 'good' families that have decided they want to be 'bad-asses,' because of peer-pressure to 'fit-in' with some group because their parents are strict.

agreed that any kid can fall in with the wrong crowd. But what i think the OP was saying (and I agree with him) is that most of these screwups you see on the show are screw up because their parents were screw ups. Most (not all) of these mothers have no control over their kids and arent pointing them in the right direction. In fact the things they seem to value are bizarre. I got that clear as crystal after only a few shows.

I remember one rich kid (Clay?) who stayed away from home and lived off his parents' credit card. What is wrong with those parents? He ended up getting a DUI after going through the program. Idiots, all of them.

Get me a bromide! And put some gin in it!
