Aren't 18-year-olds basically young adults and not considered a teenager?

18 = eight TEEN

its not like she was 21. I don't see the big deal

Still, when you're 18, you're legally an adult. Sure you don't drink legally at 18, but you're old enough to buy tobacco, vote, do porn, etc.

if its the girl I'm thinking of with the weapons charges who was 18 when she was busted-who's so called friend or boyfriend set her up (not sure, but she said she thought she could trust this person and they basically set her up) and was expelled from school.

I caught an interview with the mom and her daughter (not sure where from now, and I'll have to find it..)

But the mom said her 18 year old daughter was otherwise a very good kid, good grades, respectful, polite, didn't smoke, doesn't drink, not having sex with every guy in school-that kind of thing. Going to high school and cosmetology school and well on her way to making something with her life. She just trusted the wrong person at her high school and it all got out of hand. And she got expelled from everything.

Her and her daughter were pretty much given two choices-fight these charges in adult court (and considering the evidence, and the charges) winning wasn't probably going to happen. OR-even though she was 18- she could complete 10 hours of community service, 6 months probation, complete the jail tour thingy AND be allowed back in high school and cosmetology school. When her probation was up and she met the above terms, this whole mess would disappear completely from her record like it never happened-the daughter of course choice the jail tour, community service and probation. Considering the charges, she would have been STUPID to fight it in adult court with this kind of way out, ya know?

According to A&E, she completed the terms of her probation successfully and is going to get her High School Diploma this December (though graduate June of 2016 when her high school holds the ceremony) and she's now enrolled in an Associates Program at a local Tech school learning cosmetology.

I know this was posted 2 years ago but i haven't heard of this site until recently so i wanted to reply to you. 18 is considered an adult, you are legally old enough to move out, sure you can't drink until 21 but at 18 you are old enough to make your own decisions.

18, 19, and even 20 - 24 year olds are still CHILDREN. No matter how adult they think they are because society claims they are, it's just not the case. It's been scientifically proven that the brain (especially for boys) does not complete its development until the CHILD reaches around 25 years of age. So, I have no issues with seeing 18 and 19 year olds in this program.

As far as I'm concerned, if these kids are going to act stupid, and do stupid things, and not act as young adults should, then they should be treated accordingly.

Nothing makes me more upset than to hear an adult or a child talk about the golden age of 18.

18 is a baby.

it's not that an 18 year old can't be mature.
They just don't know how to handle themselves.

20-24 year olds ARE NOT CHILDREN. Neither are 18 and 19 year olds. They are ADULTS. They may not act like it but they are ADULTS. They are old enough to move out and be on their own. If an 18 or 19 year old has the money and can support themselves then they are ADULTS.

Um, 20-24 is not a child, that is a grown adult.

You are an adult when you turn 18. No if's and's or butt's. You're old enough to vote, you're old enough to fight for your country, your old enough to be kicked out and forced to live on your own and you're old enough to go to an adult prison.

I've seen a lot of *beep* on these boards but your post may top them all.
