What was Max Landis' idea for Chronicle 2?

After Chronicle was a success Fox hired Max Landis to write a sequel but he left because he had a different vision to Fox who basically wanted to make the same film again. What was his idea for the sequel?

The first idea with the female supervillain is interesting but the second idea with the time travel is god awful.
