$12,000,000???!
This film looks $80,000,000 at least?! The special effects are fantastic.
sharetrue.
shareFound footage looks like it cost 80,000,000? Are you serious? I think the studio paid too much at 12,000,000. People on YouTube make better effects with their home equipment lol there is literally nothing special about chronicle, if Cloverfield and Akira made a "movie-baby", this movie is the hell spawn theyd leave in the dumpster.
Don't agree, the acting of the three leads and their chemistry in the early and sometimes very cleverly written scenes by Landis make Chronicle memorable, it has much more depth than Cloverfield.
Also, sure it's Carrie and Akira, but the director admits it, I like those kind of movies and this was well paced, a youtube video could look better in a few minutes sure, but it's harder to make an 85 minute movie.
Not sure about 80 million, but it reminded me a lot of Duncan Jones' Moon in the way that it was shot very efficiently. The tension came from well executed storytelling rather than from adding moneyshot after moneyshot. In that way it had an 80s vibe, when even expensive movies could not just rely on money and great VFX companies but instead had to come up with clever solutions to tell the story.
shareI agree 100%. Very efficient and effective filmmaking. I do hope Josh Trank gets his career back on track after his Fantastic Four disaster. He is definitely a major talent.
shareFilm is good, but no way it looks like a $80 Million production. Special effects are good for a $12 Million budget. Mostly they didn't get A list actors, which saved them a lot of money. More over its a found footage film, so there goes high end camera and all the lighting and *beep* ton of equipment cost.
