No sympathy.

I have absolutely no sympathy for Andrew. Unfortunately, I grew up in a worst situation than this fictional kid and I have never had the urge to hurt, or kill people. He's a coward and a bully. How is he a bully? Look at how he treats people once he has power not only is he a dumb ass, but his voice pisses me off. I learned about apex predators in the 3rd grade.

Note; I'm not looking for sympathy or saying I'm a better person.

You don't have superpowers, though.

But switch "superpowers" with "guns" and we get the same effect. Andrew may have been dealt a bad hand in life but the way in which he dealt with his hardships is what really defines him.

In the end, it's all about power. For Andrew, everyone around him had power and he didn't. But, the moment he gets power, he's left with a choice as to whether he could use that power for good or use it to harm those who had wrong him. Andrew chose the latter. Just because bullies treated him as inferior doesn't warrant him to do the same once he's able. This is why he ultimately became the worst bully of all.

Andrew didn't HAVE to seek out the thugs who harassed him previously but he does for the sake of revenge. Andrew didn't HAVE to rob a convenience store but his mind was too clouded by hatred to think of a more promising solution (like covertly stealing the medicine from the pharmacy). And, when confronted by his cousin, Andrew did have to fight back, but he chose to because he saw himself as "the Apex Predator."

Andrew had all my sympathy began to lose some when he threw the car into the lake and didn't show any concern for the man who was soon to drown. His initial thought was not to help but to find someway to protect himself. His character took a far worse turn when he uses his powers to attack his father. Physically fight back is one thing but using a power that is essentially lethal is another. I lost all sympathy for Andrew once he started attacking the city, not caring for anything beyond his own dominance.

This. I really felt for Andrew in the beginning but he started changing after that car incident.

Well, you ARE saying that you're a better person, or else what's your point?

But so what?

I relate to Andrew. If I had those powers, there would be some people who'd be very sorry to have angered me. I'm not saying that's right, I'm just saying I know myself pretty well.

Now, the person I have no sympathy for is the father. He's on disability, so he can't afford the mother's medication? He seemed pretty fit to me. He threw around furniture, he threw his kid around, he was clearly not too injured to work. It may be that he couldn't be a fire-fighter anymore, but there are other jobs. Thing is, disability is so sweet. You just kick back, drink, beat your kid, and explain that you can't afford the medication.

How much did he spend on beer? If he's going through even one six-pack a day, that's almost $200 a month right there. And it looks like he was going through more than one.

Good! Cause its not a character that looks for sympathy.

You have to understand we are not all the same and different people react different to different circumstances.

Why am I such a misfit? I am not just a nitwit.
