Season 3?

Is Season 3 happening?

With Tim signed to do a new show on ABC that got picked up earlier this year, I don't think so at least for now as nothing has said this show is officially over. It's pretty much on the bubble and it's at least not a ratings issue. We may get something next year if Tim's schedule works out and he's willing to do it and he's even suggested ideas to where he'd like Season 3 to go.

But I don't see where they can really go from here. It told the story it needed. Just hate we didn't see much Charlie with his mom, Neal, Lucy, Curtis, and the Council of whatever with Mother Nature, Father Time, etc. just not even being seen at all. It would be worth a Season 3 just to see THEM and give them an arc/closure.

A good show, but overall, rather pointless to even do if this is it. In that case, they could have done just two movies (Season 1 being TSC4 and Season 2 being TSC5) but with more OG characters coming back with arcs and left it at that. But if they do bring the show back at some point in the future, the hiatus may be beneficial as it gives a big enough time gap where things are simply fine as it was between the movies. An issue doing yearly show like this is having to come up with new problems/villains and it becomes just ridiculous like how Harry Potter has him dealing with nonsense every single year he's at Hogwarts as if it's staged.

But this just goes to show why they should have just done two movies and called it a day, so they don't have this problem of trying to continue an episodic show by making up all this story to keep it afloat and worth the existence than end it after such a short run due to lack of progression or not wanting to stretch it out into nonsense territory but then comes off as a waste. It's like a lose-lose situation, but I wouldn't mind seeing a third season just as long as it's good and make use of many characters we haven't seen return yet. I'd probably just end it there though.

I honestly would prefer they just do more Santa Clause movies than 6-episode seasons since each season feels like stretched-out movies anyway.

We had opportunities to have at least TWO MOVIES here and they decided to go the TV route. Makes it odd to even make another movie or more because you have this limited show in the mix you'd have to go through which makes this disjointed sequence of events. The good thing is, they can just wrap things up as is now we did get some backstory lore and a nice closure to leave off on that didn't require anything else happening.

But if they WERE to go forward, I'd rather they do third season of six episodes (or eight to get it to 20 total) just to give the show a bit of a longer tenure and we can match the trilogy of movies if we have a trilogy of seasons. Also, if they were to bring back more movie characters then eight episodes is enough time to get to work with their arcs. I don't see the need for this franchise to really go on and on and on. The story has ran stale now with little left to even tell. I can see one more big tale but then that should be it.

Yeah, I just would like to see Neal’s family back and there to be some ultimate closure to the fate of Scott Calvin as Santa Claus and bring things full circle to the original film.
