Was Bernie just Manipulating the town folk.....

After he killed Marjorie he ran all over town buying the town people all kinds of things and loaning money, and just being a really great nice guy. Could this just been a way to butter the town up because he knew that once they found Marjorie they would have a hard time convicting him because everyone just "loved" sweet Bernie. Well, it seems to have worked! Maybe Bernie is nothing but a conman! He moved in on Marjorie because she was old and vulnerable. Once she found out he was stealing her money he panicked and shot her.

Seems more likely than Bernie being a sweet angel that killed a old woman out of frustration. He was grown and could have left at any time! He still had his own home!!
